SOLDIER members are recruited by the Turks. Upon completion of training, the recruit undergoes the process of Mako Infusion. This process gives them special abilities, such as enhanced strength and agility, as well the glowing eyes that is "the mark of SOLDIER." Members of SOLDIER are also skilled in the use of materia.
SOLDIER 3rd Class: Each SOLDIER 3rd Class member is required to have a hardedge sword. They are fresh out of training and presently guard Shinra's HQ.
SOLDIER 2nd Class: Each SOLDIER 2nd Class member is required to have a much more powerful sword with materia slots. Each one is then given Ice materia that has grown to level 2. They presently guard Junon.
SOLDIER 1st Class: Each SOLDIER 1st Class member gets the privilege of having a custom sword made with 2 materia slots. Now and then, new high- power materia is given to them. SOLDIER 1st Class members train all the candidates for SOLDIER. When special missions come along, it is 1st Class that gets them. Presently, 1st Class guards all of Midgar.
At the top of the SOLDIER hierarchy are the SOLDIER officers. These are the veterans who have earned honor and glory through years of loyal service to Shinra, Inc. and are now trusted with the command of SOLDIER.
SOLDIER is Shinra's troubleshooters. SOLDIER members are called upon to do anything from repairing mako reactors to counter insurgencies.
