Pursuing Academic Success (PAS) is still a fairly new club, founded in the 2004-2005 school year. In an effort to increase SOL scores as well as students' grades, Oakton High School students tutor children at Mosby Woods Elementary year-round. One-on-one help creates a better understanding of the material gone over in class to ensure that no student is left behind.
Students tutor on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 2:30-2:50 PM. They are assigned to a specific child and/or a specific group of students from the kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade classes. It is required that tutors attend at least one tutoring session a week for one consistent nine-week period. Tutors may either board bus 19 from Oakton, drive themselves, get a ride from a parent, or walk. However their mode of transportation, tutors must be at Mosby Woods Elementary by 2:30.
