How Can I Become A Christian?

Simply, you need to stop rebelling against God and turn to Jesus, trusting him alone to save you from the future punishment your sin (of rebellion) deserves.

Jesus said, Follow me! That is what he is asking of you! The very word Christian means a follower of Christ. You can only answer the request to follow Jesus Christ with either a Yes or No!

Becoming a Christian is between you and God. Its not a step anyone else can take for you. The following paragraph is the kind of prayer some people have said when becoming Christians. You may find it helpful too! [For a line-by-line explanation of the prayer click here]

Oh Lord God, I am sorry for all my sins.
Now I want to go your way.
Please help me to do that.
Thank you, Lord Jesus, for dying and rising again for me.
Please forgive me and clean me up from all my sins.
Please come to me and take over the running of my life. Amen.

If that prayer expresses the meaning of your heart, mind & will, then be assured that God has heard your humble confession to him. You are now a Christian, a loved member of Gods family. No-one can undo what has happened - you are safely in Gods hands. He will help you, day by day, to grow in your Christian life. He has given you the gift of his Holy Spirit to live in you to give you strength & power to live a life pleasing to him. You will need to find out what things please God by reading the Bible [at least every day is best]. You will also discover some things that displease him - ask him to help you change. Its an exciting new life - not a question of a set of rules, dos & donts!

Do try to find other Christians to meet with. Its a great help to you and others to meet each week with Christians who love Jesus and the Bible - and obey what it teaches! Pray that God will lead you to find such a group of people. If your countrys government allows it, you may be able to meet in a church building.
