Briscoes Group has purchased the Yarrow street store of Smiths City (Invercargill), intending
to locate a Rebel Sports store there. Smiths City will relocate to the new Warehouse
development in Leet street.

Smiths City Profit Up 28% for October Half
Smiths City has recorded an increase of 28.8 per cent in its after tax profit for the six
months to October 31 compared with the same period last year.
After tax profit increased $886,000 to $1,141,000, Sales for the period increased from
$82,456,000 to $85,519,000 - an increase of 3.7 per cent.
The company declared a fully imputed interim dividend of 1 cent a share.
Chairman Craig Boyce said the group would continue its strategy of growing revenue by
increasing sales in existing stores and product categories and by the addition of new
opportunities as they arose.
In December the company bought the South Island retail assets of Rockgas, giving it access to
the rapidly growing market of gas appliances and gas water heating products.
