Revised Notice of Registration for those applying as Overseas Absentee Voter under the Dual Citizenship Law

NOTICE

The Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in Washington D.C. wishes to announce that the Citizenship Retention and Re-Acquisition Act of 2003 (RA 9225), more commonly known Dual Citizenship Law will become effective starting 17 September 2003.

For purposes of overseas absentee voting, the Embassy will accept application for registration of former natural born Filipinos who wish to register as Filipino Overseas Absentee Voter from September 17 to September 30, 2003. They should be prepared to do the following acts:


- Personally appear before the COMELEC representative at
the Romulo Hall of the Philippine Embassy, located at 1600
Massachusetts Avenue N.W., Washington, D.C. 20036;

- Present at least one of the following
1) Original Philippine Birth Certificate
2) Original Old Philippine Passport
3) Original Naturalization Certificate
4) Valid Foreign Passport

- Take the required oath of allegiance before a Philippine
Consular Official and pay the notarial fee of $25.00;

- Execute an affidavit of intent to return and resume actual
physical permanent residence in the Philippines, as stated
in Part III of the Application Form for Overseas Absentee Voter;

- Submit the accomplished OA V Application Form with the
above-enumerated supporting documents.
