Chapter 2
Tevara Woods
“Alice, your foot is on my face! Get off!” Mandy sat up and threw Alice’s leg aside. “Where are we? It looks like we’re in a forest.”
“Something is wrong with my leg. I think I twisted it.” Alice woke up and look at Mandy, who tried so hard to avoid eye contact. “Aw…this place is creeping me out. So what do you suppose lives here? Tigers? Lions?”
“I’d rather not think about that.” Mandy replied and got up onto her feet.
Slowly, Alice rose from the ground and looked around. The two of them moved closer to each other so they would feel safer and started to explore the silent wilderness. The forest was dark; and only tiny bits of sunlight managed to get through the thick trees. As the two girls tried to find a way out of the forest, they kept on feeling that there were hundreds of hungry eyes staring upon them.
“It feels like something is about to jump out of the trees and eat us.” Alice whispered in Mandy’s ear. “Hey, do you feel that something is different?”
“Like the fact that I have a whip and you have a bow and arrows?” Mandy answered quietly. “Yeah, I wonder where we got them from. But I don’t really like it though. This whip is red with a heart on it.”
Alice laughed a little until she heard a noise coming from bushes.
“AH!! It’s going to eat us!” Mandy yelled.
Then, something jumped out of the bush and started to scream. Next, the two girls were screaming too. Suddenly they all stopped.
“Hah, what a relief. It’s just a boy.” Alice dropped to the ground with her legs all weakened. “What are you doing here?” Alice asked the little boy.
The boy did not answer or give any signs of reply. Mandy was still standing stiff as a statue from what had just happened, and the deafening scream from Alice still rang in her ears.
“Can you tell us where we are and why you are here?” Alice tried to ask again. This time, the boy opened his mouth but instead of words, which should be coming out, he gave another scream and pointed somewhere behind Alice.
“This cannot be good can it?” Alice asked herself as she turned around face to face with a cougar. “AH!!!!!” Alice popped up to her feet, grabbed Mandy and the boy by the arm and shot away. With the cougar quick behind her thinking that they were dinner, tears started to run down Alice’s cheeks. “Why does this have to happen to me… and can’t these two run on their own?!”
After running forever, Alice finally lost sight of the cougar and now she sat down to take a break. “I can’t believe I ran faster than a cougar.” Alice panted.
“Me neither.” Mandy finally spoke. “Whew that was so close.”
“Yeah, thanks to you and that kid over there we almost became an all-you-can-eat buffet!” Alice shouted at Mandy who still seems a little out of it.
“You know we could’ve just attacked him with our weapons.” Mandy said as she pulled out her red whip.
“Why didn’t you suggest that earlier?!” Alice asked angrily.
“Because, if you weren’t noticing, I was totally out of my mind and I couldn’t even make out what was going on.” Mandy retorted.
“That’s great.” Alice said sarcastically. “Hey, you still haven’t answered us yet! Where are we?” Alice looked at the boy. The boy looked back at her and stood up.
“You’re in Tevara Woods.” The boy spoke. “I don’t know about you, but I’m getting out of here.”
“Huh? This isn’t a forest? It sure looks like one with all these trees.” Mandy touched one of the trees beside her. “If this isn’t a forest, will we get stuck in the branches when we do go into a real one?
“I don’t have that kind of time to answer your stupid questions.” The boy replied and started to walk away.
“You brat.” Alice mumbled under her breath. “Hey, mind if you bring us out of this forest too?”
“Whatever. Just follow me, but if you get lost it’s not my fault and none of my business.”
‘Aw…I’m going to kill him right when we leave this place.’ Alice thought to herself.
