The Whole World Mourns

The despicable and almost indescribable acts of
September 11, 2001 have cast a long dark shadow on our
FREEDOM, DEMOCRACY, and our WAY OF LIFE.

The United States, along with many other countries have vowed
to bring to justice those responsible for these horrific acts.

It is so hard to understand why or how anyone could take the lives
of so many innocent people in such a senseless and horrible way.
To kill others, and to celebrate in the streets, is beyond the
understanding of our mental state.

Being an American, born and raised in New York, this has affected
me and made such an impact on my life, that I'll NEVER forget.
Watching those two building collapse is an image that will remain
etched in my mind forever. The World Trade Center was so large and
so heavily populated, it was like a small city in itself. I think
everyone here in New York either knew someone or had family members or
friends that either worked in those buildings or was involved in the
clean up and rescue.

I am so proud to be an American and want to thank all those people all
over the world who have shared our pain and mourned with us. You have
truly touched my heart. I may NEVER understand why or how
something like this could have ever happened. But the one thing I DO
understand, is what this country and the American flag stand for.
As I drive through the streets of New York, I see so many American
flags...and realize now, they can knock our buildings down and take
our lives in such a cowardly way, but our flag still stands and will
always stand for FREEDOM...and they will NEVER take that away.

God Bless America and all those who share our loss and pain.

This candle burns night and day in memory of all the victims
who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.
