| Ambience: A quaint vintage house located in Sisters houses Jen's Garden. It is a cozy setting with a main room and two ante rooms with seating for up to 28 people. Service: Our host Jamie was very attentive and made us feel comfortable right away. Throughout the evening our courses were were served timely with Jamie explaining each one upon its arrival. The Food: The menu at Jen's Garden is offered both a'la Carte as well as Prix Fixe Menu where you can choose a selection from each course including First Course, Fish Course, Main Course, Salad Course and Dessert Course. The menu is changed on a weekly basis expanding opportunities for new cuisine each visit! Since there were four of us at dinner we were fortunate enough to try almost everything on the menu. First Course: We had Idaho Trout Cake with Juniper Gravlax & Red Pepper Cream as well as Portabella Mushroom on a Carmelized Onion Tart. Both were very good with the Portabella Mushroom being our favorite of the two. Fish Course: A La Bourride: Salmon and Halibut in a Creamy Potato, Leek and Saffron Soup. It was delicate and delicious. We enjoyed these first two courses with a Eyrie Vineyards Pinot Gris and a Chateau Ste Michelle Cold Creek Riesling from their wine by the glass offerings. Main Courses: Grilled Tenderloin of Beef with Berry Demi-Glace, Red Onion Marmalade and Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes. This was our favorite entree, brooding, smoky Tenderloin - Exceptional! The Grilled Loin Chop of Pork with Carmelized Shallot, Marsala Demi-Glace and Sweet Potato Hash was really good with the Carmelized Shallot really standing out. The Braised Poulet Gremolata: Garlic, Lemon, Green Olive Roasted Chicken over Creamy Polenta was fabulous with flavors bursting out all over, yet evenly balanced. Salad Course: Mixed Greens with Fresh Strawberries, Candied Pecans, Lemon Stilton and Citrus with a Tea Vinaigrette. By far the hit of the evening. Who knew salad could be this good. Wow!!! Dessert Course: We had a Frozen Amaretto Souffle with Caramel Sauce and a Flourless Dark Chocolate Gateau with Mixed Berry Couli. We asked Jamie to pair dessert wines for us and he chose a Eola Hills Vin D'Or Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc for the Souffle and a Sandeman Ruby Port for the Chocolate Gateau. Both were perfect choices. Wine Menu: The wine menu at Jen's Garden is compact, but with many great choices such as DDO (Domaine Drouhin), Domaine Serene and other Northwest choices. The French wine selection is particullary interesting including a Bouchard Montrachet Chardonnay. Glasses of wine range from $6 to $7.50 with bottles ranging from $20 to $70. Wine Service: The wine service was good. The stemware was adequate and we enjoyed all of our wines. Overall Impression: There was a pleasant buzz in the restaurant the evening we were there, people enjoying themselves. The food was outstanding and we will be frequenting Sisters more often with Jen's Garden there. Recommended. |
