-Some Character History: Adams, for years, was THE man to beat in professional wrestling, and during the peak decade of his career, was nearly unstoppable. He held on to wrestling's World Championship on four seperate occasions during that time, his longest run lasting nearly six years. Adams is considered by many to be the most recognized professional wrestler in the world, and his career likely inspired many of today's wrestlers to lace up the boots in the first place.
Adams had a decorated amateur career, and in 1971, at a tender 17 years of age, turned pro, being the youngest person ever at the time to do so. His entry into the professional wrestling world turned the heads of numerous critics, who thought he'd never make it. Five years later, after having briefly held a secondary championship belt, he proved the world wrong when he dethroned the World Champion of the day, the Iranian Assassin. The two would end up being bitter rivals for many years to come. In 1979, the Iranian Assassin introduced the world to his protogé, the Ambasaror of Pain, who would also terun out to be one of Adams's toughest opponents. Many of the matches involving Adams and either of these two men are seen as being some of the best of the time, and are legendary by today's standards.
Adams hung up the boots in 1991, ending a career that lasted 20 years to the very day, at the age of 37. Save for a few promotions in the early '90's, Adams has since left the public eye and the world of professional wrestling, but is rumored to be doing well at his home near his hometown of Detroit, Michigan.
-Gimmick/ Character's General Description: Adams developed into THE icon of professional wrestling and became the most recognizable figure in the sport, around the globe. At the height of his career, he was legenday for his matches, wit, intensity, generosity, integrity and charisma. He was a rolemodel for budding wrestlers, and and to fans of the sport alike.
