SLR

Physical Description - SLR stands at 5'10 and weighs 224lbs (a few pounds bigger than his last run in the nWEFF). He has bleached blonde hair that has been various lengths but currently is kind of shaggy all over. His trademark blue eyes have melted thousands of women and scared thousands of men. His left eyebrow is pierced. He has various tattoos all over his body, most notably a small question mark on his right shoulder and a wrap of barbed wire around his neck (a symbol from that infamous (pun intended) with the Dark Warrior). SLR has been wearing the same wrestling attire since the first time he wrestled in an nWEFF ring, white wife beater tank top, brown cordorouy pants and red wrestling boots. When he's not wrestling, he wears mostly t-shirts varying from bands to old school nWEFF wrestlers or the occasional old school Seattle Supersonics jersey and jeans, shorts, whatever and usually a black leather jacket. He's also been seen in various headwear such as stocking caps or faded baseball caps.

Background - SLR's history is well documented and often talked about (mostly by him). He started wrestling at a fairly young age in the Seattle area before being given a chance to wrestle in Japan. In Japan, SLR wrestled as the Question Mark, where he wore a mask and tights adorned with ?'s. It was in Japan that SLR met the men who would eventually take him to the nWEFF.

Thomer and 'Dirty' Frank Huvey, two Americans, were tearing up the Japanese hardcore circuit with their brutal matches. SLR being one of the few Americans on a few of these cards began to bond with Thomer and DFH and the three men began to travel (and party) together in Japan. Thomer had a close friend in the states that was in the process of starting up a federation and wanted Thomer to come and be a cornerstone of the company. Thomer was able to get contracts for his friends, "Dirty" Frank and his new friend, the Question Mark. After finishing their tour in Japan, they flew back to the US to start working for this new company, the New World E Fed Federation or the nWEFF.

Before debuting in the nWEFF, Thomer suggested that the Question Mark drop the mask and the gimmick and just be himself and thus, SLR was born. Of course, that began the trend that would follow SLR through out his career, opponents and others trying to figure out and guess what exactly S L R stands for. No one has ever guessed correctly and SLR has never revealed what the letters stand for and by most accounts has legally changed his name to S L R.

SLR debuted in the early days of the nWEFF as a high flying featherweight, who to most fans, was quite odd with his weird looking attire and his constant smoking of cigarettes (which as we all know would go on to become his trademark). It wasn't long before SLR would capture the nWEFF Featherweight Championship for the first time. Also during this period, SLR part of a stable known as the Loop, which was led by Thomer and which included "Dirty" Frank as well as the equally odd Slagor the Slavic Beast. They were a rag tag group that was moderately successful. SLR would go on to hold and keep the Featherweight title numerous times and he began to get restless in the division that he dominated.

An event that effected SLR more than perhaps anything else in his life was the death of his mentor, Thomer, who took a bump off the top of a hell in the cell and landed incorrectly. At this point, SLR was lost. He was in the nWEFF because of Thomer, he was a part of a stable because of Thomer. SLR had begun to come into his own but without Thomer, he wasn't sure if he could continue wrestling but he did and he had decided at that point that it was time to leave the Featherweight division and attempted to take his career to the next level.

Of course, when a great featherweight tells management he wants to start wrestling heavyweights, he's not taken very seriously. So SLR wasn't put in the Internet Title division, instead, he was put in a match against the reigning Hardcore Champion, the King of Hardcore, Bloodhound. On that night, SLR would be brutalized by Bloodhound but it was that match, more than any other in his career that would take SLR from the odd featherweight who smoked to the legendary ewrestler he is today. SLR trudged on in the world of hardcore, immersing himself in it, watching tapes of his mentor Thomer and good friend "Dirty" Frank and wrestling hardcore match after hardcore match. SLR would eventually capture the nWEFF Hardcore Championship 6 times as well as have legendary matches with Bloodhound, culminating in the final showdown, the oft referenced SLR/Bloodhound 7, a match considered by most to be one of, if not the, greatest match in nWEFF history.

As SLR evolved into the Hardcore God we know him as today, he formed a relationship with two of the biggest names in the nWEFF at the time (and subsequently all time), Spoonman and Cujo. The two legendary wrestlers apparently saw something in SLR that no one else did and they asked him to join up with them and form a stable. Just like every other stable, the first task is to find a name, but when SLR suggested a name, it was obvious to all three men that the name had been chosen. The Elite.

The Elite quickly became the force in the nWEFF garnering massive fan support. With Spoonman a constant contender for the nWEFF World Title, SLR would hold the Hardcore championship and then would go on to team with Cujo for 3 nWEFF Tag Team Championships. SLR had once again established that he could evolve his style and added tag wrestling to his resume alongside featherweight and hardcore wrestling.

If The Elite aren't the greatest stable in nWEFF history, then perhaps the group in which they fought intensely, the Unforgiven, is. The Unforgiven, consisting of Jason Lee, Rain and the Maestro, reigned supreme in the nWEFF until The Elite came along to challenge that reign. It was during this feud that SLR would get his first taste of the nWEFF's greatest heel, Jason Lee.

SLR had decided that he wanted to go after the most coveted title in the game, the nWEFF World Heavyweight Championship. Most people at the time felt that SLR certainly had devolped into a talented wrestler who had proven he could wrestle with the heavyweights but going for the World Title was something that was unheard of for a featherweight. Holding the title at this time was none other than "the Unforgiven" Jason Lee. SLR would challenge Lee several times, each time facing defeat as the champ's mocking of SLR grew. Try as SLR might, he could not defeat Lee.

Jason Lee could did not hold the title forever and as SLR continued to rack up wins against other, non-Unforgiven heavyweights. SLR was building momentum and it began to seem as if it was only a matter of time. SLR was to take part in a battle royal at the nWEFF's PPV ...And Justice for Brawl to determine a new nWEFF Heavyweight Champion. Going into the PPV, SLR was the odds on favorite to win the match but was screwed out of the title and it was captured by Lee Lewis. SLR was granted a one on one match with Lewis on the following Tuesday Night Cocktail.

So the stage was set, the match was booked and it seemed as if nothing could stand in the way of destiny...and it didn't. On that night, SLR would capture the nWEFF World Heavyweight Championship, the first featherweight to do so. It was on that very night that SLR would stand in the ring, following Cocktail and retire in front of the live audience and much to the surprise to everyone in the nWEFF. SLR wanted to go out 'on top' like the recently retired Michael Jordan, John Elway and even Jerry Seinfeld. SLR would leave the nWEFF and not be heard from for months.

In SLR's absence, the nWEFF began to head into a downward spiral. There was turmoil in the front office and poor management began to wear on the company. These were not the reasons for SLR's appearence on a Tuesday Night Cocktail one fateful night, however. During the middle of an in ring segment featuring then nWEFF Champion Shawn Robinson and his upcoming challenger, the Maestro (who, in SLR fashion, was attempting to become the only other featherweight to capture the nWEFF World Title), the arena went dark and a hooded man made his way to the ring, smoking a cigarette. The fans began to buzz as the hooded man dropped his hood to reveal SLR. SLR stood in the ring that night and informed Robinson that he was carrying around a title that wasn't his. He challenged Robinson to an impromptu title match and then took the title after putting the cigarette out in Robinson's eye. The decision was later over turned and the title returned to Robinson, who would subsequently lose it to the Maestro who would in turn recognize his place in things as he was defeated by SLR. SLR was back and he had his title and all was right with the world.

SLR went on to carry the nWEFF to it's greatest era as SLR became the most recognizeable name in the company's history. He would go on to have memorable feuds with the likes of Earl Fish, a renewed feud with Bloodhound (which led to SLR/BH 7), his behind the scenes best friend Ringmaster, as well his former stablemates, Spoonman and Cujo. A new era began to rise in the nWEFF and new names began to rise to the top of the federation. These names included Attitude, (Dark) Slayer, Infamous, Erik Kutter, Sgt. Payne, the man who would become Sinister, and the Dark Warrior. SLR was the champion at this time and was on a collision course to defend the championship against his most hated foe, "the Unforgiven" Jason Lee. Would SLR finally be able to defeat the only name whom he had not beaten? The answer to the question is no. Days before his title defense against Lee, SLR was plagued by some personal problems which led to his defeat at the pay per view. SLR would exit the arena that night through the crowd and not be heard from until he was presented with the most prestigous honor in the nWEFF, induction into the Hall of Fame. SLR stood on a stage alongside his two greatest enemies, "the Unforgiven" Jason Lee and Bloodhound. SLR soon after announced his retirement.

During the following months and years, SLR would again become active, wrestling for various independent federations all over the net. The nWEFF, meanwhile, would go through it's worst period in history, eventually closing for what seemed like for good. But as the nWEFF always does, it rose from the ashes and within weeks, SLR reemerged to battle the new breed of nWEFF superstars.

SLR has been a part of the nWEFF since it's inception and his name is synonymous with the company. He is heralded by some as the greatest in the history of the nWEFF. He's the undisputed 'Hardcore God' and is a universally respected competitor. When all the questions are answered and all the smoke has cleared, there is only one man who is left standing, the man they call SLR.

Arsenal - SLR has one of the most versatile movesets in all of ewrestling, utilizing everything from his career. You'll see him use any number of featherweight staples such as hurricanranas, headscissors and any move used executed after a springboard jump off the ropes. SLR once claimed that if there was a high flying, high risk move that's been done, he could do it and often utilizes the shooting star press as well as his now trademark twisting moonsault. SLR has mastered the superkick and often uses variances of the DDT. Of course SLR will go completely balls out when in a hardcore match and put it all on the line with a death defying manuever in an attempt to put his opponent down. SLR loves the knife edge chop as well. He's been known to pull out a rocker dropper/fameasser. He'll use any of the suplexes. Basically, if he can pull it off on his opponent, he'll use it.

Finisher - The Question: the Mandible Claw (SLR uses this manuever because he's mastered the art of applying it out of nowhere. the name of course is derived from his Question Mark days)

Entrance - "Sabatoge" by the Beastie Boys begins to play as the top of the ramp begins to be immersed by smoke. The crowd then roars as the Hardcore God, the Smoking Man, the man they call SLR steps through the smoke and makes his way to the ring...
