You
must pass this class!
Economics is one of the most relevant subjects you will take in High
School. It is about the choices you make every day.
Some of the projects to look forward to are:
On My Own: Required to pass the class. This 100 pt. assignment
puts you in charge of your life. Find a job, housing, go grocery
shopping, budget. Learn what it is like in the real world. You
are On Your Own.
Stock Market: Tracking stock information for 10 weeks. Then we
will re-create the NYSE in room 302! Buy low, sell high!
WHY TAKE ECONOMICS?
Economics is a high school graduation requirement. The State of
California believes it important that all graduating seniors complete a
course that covers basic economic principles and applies these concepts to
our nation, state and local communities. But what is Economics?
Economics is the study of how people and countries use their resources to
produce, distribute and consume goods and services. Knowledge of
this helps you to make better economic decisions in your life.
Think about how many decisions you make when you want to buy a
product: What store? Which brand? How much? This
course will help you understand the economic system of the United States
and provide you with the tools to evaluate economic choices in your
future.
