Dear Friends,
In order for the group communications and sharing of information in our NWA OTTAWA egroup to be a pleasant and rewarding experience for all, we require that each member comply with the following protocol.
Your subscription to NWA OTTAWA and participation indicates acceptance of this protocol.
GENERAL PROTOCOL:
- NWA OTTAWA is an e-mail community for Nikken distributors/wellness consultants in good standing only. It is designed to foster conversation to enhance all aspects of individual distributorships/wellness consultancies all over the world. Conversation between individuals, groups, random postings and blind transmissions are expected to be friendly, business-like, helpful and positive.
- Postings of an argumentative nature, libelous, private or personal data meant to be demeaning or embarrassing to other members, Nikken (the company) including its officers and employees, or determined to be generally unacceptable or insensitive will not be allowed.
- Appropriately expressed discussion of current company policy, company decisions and/or procedure(s), opinions about products, etc. are acceptable, when resolution of that debate is beneficial. It is not the moderators’ intent to discourage members from taking controversial positions or expressing vigorously what may be unpopular views; however, the co-moderators (by majority decision) reserve the right to take such action as we deem appropriate in situations where our group is used to disseminate statements which are deeply and widely offensive and/or harmful.
- Members may not interfere with other members’ participation in our group, including, without limitation, disrupting the normal flow of dialogue within the group.
- No member may post or transmit any file which contains viruses, worms, Trojan horses or any other contaminating or destructive features.
- Members may not post or transmit charity requests, jokes, petitions for signatures, chain letters or letters relating to pyramid schemes or gifting clubs.

- Moderators reserve the right to request from any member that member’s Nikken website address in order to verify that a member is an active Nikken Wellness Consultant.

INTEGRITY ISSUES
Each member who participates in the NWA OTTAWA egroup takes time to share freely with others. Each post, each article, each link, each opinion, each announcement, etc. and each person who so graciously shares his or her product experience – not to mention the doctors who so freely respond to hundreds of questions - takes their individual time to compose that information, type it up and share it with the group. That is what makes our group so great – many who give so freely of their time which results in a plethora of valuable information in one forum from all over the world. This sharing of information is as pure an example of humans being more that one could ever hope to experience.
We are flattered that often information found in our NWA OTTAWA community of sharing people is found to be valuable enough that many wish to share that information with others in their up, down or crosslines.
“Lurker” is online terminology for those who join an online community but never or seldom participate. We welcome lurkers.
Whether you are a lurker or an active participant, if you share any information that you copy from our NWA OTTAWA forum, PLEASE HAVE THE INTEGRITY to include the name of the original poster or person who originally shared that information. ATTACHMENTS
1. NO ATTACHMENTS TO GROUP MAIL IS ALLOWED. Attachments to emails to the group are only accessible by the members receiving the individual mail delivery option. For this reason and because viruses are always a threat, our group does not accept attachments. If the information you wish to share with the entire group is important enough to share, then it would be worth the effort to copy and paste the content of the attachment directly into your email or post so that all members can then see it. Another option is to upload that information to the Files section of our NWA OTTAWA website. SEE BELOW FOR SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS.
2. Moderators reserve the right to cull the Files and Links Features of NWA OTTAWA.
SIGNATURE FILES OR LINES
1. Signature files or lines are restricted to TWO standard lines of type only. Members who receive the daily digests must scroll thru repeated, lengthy signature files that are often meant for prospecting of others to join Nikken. This becomes annoying and is unnecessary for fellow consultants. If your signature file is more than TWO standard lines of type, please DELETE all but TWO lines in your signature file. We appreciate your consideration of all members.
2. Signature files or lines containing a link to a personal or company website is acceptable and will be counted as one of the TWO lines allowed.
3. A link to information regarding other companies and included as one of the TWO lines allowed in your signature file is acceptable.
4. Signature files are very effective, free advertising. If members want to advertise something within the group, it will be necessary for them to post useful, Nikken-related information that is deemed of interest to the majority of members along with their signature file.
5. Any disputes regarding this issue will be resolved by the majority of the co-moderators of the group.
ADVERTISING TO AND SOLICITION OF NWA OTTAWA GROUP MEMBERSHIP
“Advertising” is restricted to your two-line signature file ONLY. Many of our members are engaged in other business activities which constitute their full-time occupation, support businesses for other distributors and are even associated with other network marketing companies that may have products or services not offered by Nikken. Please restrict any mention of these activities to your signature file ONLY.
Affiliate programs, books, CD’s, tapes, motivational programs, Nikken support services and companies, etc. recommended by Nikken leaders, Team Diamond, or other recognized MLM leaders are welcome to be shared with the group membership ONCE and only if it is related to Nikken.
Our membership will not become a convenient market for classified ads either
within the group or privately to individual NWA OTTAWA membership. The moderator’s
TEST for appropriate “solicitation” and “advertising” to our members is three-fold:
A) Does the program, product or service directly support Nikken or not?
B) Is the solicitation or advertisement within the flow of conversation?
C) Has any member within the group or individually and privately requested information on the subject?
3. Members are encouraged to notify the moderators of any solicitation and advertising to them (either within the group or individually and privately) that they feel is without their permission, or where they feel their name or email address was “harvested” or “plucked” from NWA OTTAWA membership without permission. Such reports of inappropriate solicitation or advertising must be accompanied by the complete email about which the report is made and that email must contain the date, name (if available) and email address, along with complete content of the alleged offending solicitation or advertisement.
4. The moderators will make every effort to contact the member that has been reported and ascertain the details of the situation and request proof of permission to advertise or solicit any member of the NWA OTTAWA egroup. It is the responsibility of each member to provide specific proof of permission necessary to solicit or advertise to any NWA OTTAWA member. Any dispute regarding this issue will be resolved by the majority of the co-moderators, and that decision is final and indisputable.
5. The consequence for inappropriate solicitation or advertising to group members will be removal from NWA OTTAWA group membership.
SOLICITATION OF NWA OTTAWA GROUP MEMBERS FOR OTHER MLM COMPANIES
1. Under NO circumstances shall any NWA OTTAWA member be solicited for other MLM opportunities or affiliate programs. There is a zero tolerance policy on this issue. Violators of this policy will be terminated and reported to Nikken Distributor Services immediately.
2. The NO SOLICITATION rule with regard to other mlm opportunities applies both to emails sent to the entire group and privately and individually to each member or as any part of a “list” where a NWA OTTAWA member’s name and/or email address has been “harvested” or “plucked” from our group membership without that member’s specific permission.
3. Merely communicating with a NWA OTTAWA group member, either privately by email or via the entire group does not constitute that member’s permission to be solicited by another member – for any reason. Placing our individual NWA OTTAWA group member’s names and/or email addresses into your address book for the purpose of “mass emailing” or individual mailing to that member without that member’s expressed written permission is prohibited and considered spam.
4. There are times when products or services outside Nikken, but not in competition with Nikken products, can be helpful to all. Information about such products and/or services is allowed when that information is within the flow of conversation; otherwise, introducing that information to the group or individually and privately is restricted to the TWO line signature file.
5. Any dispute regarding this issue will be resolved by the majority of the co-moderators, and that decision is final and indisputable.
Resolution of Disputes
1. Each dispute and all members involved will be considered on a case-by-case basis with each member having the opportunity to explain their position and provide proof of that position. Any member unable or unwilling to provide such proof or explanation when requested or simply not responding to requests from the moderators will be determined to not possess exculpatory information. The co-moderators will make their decisions based on prompt, cooperative responses that provide the necessary information to resolve the issues.
2. Consequences for not complying with these protocols may be, but not limited to, moderating a member’s posts with or without that member’s knowledge, a private warning, a public warning and/or removal from NWA OTTAWA group membership. These moderator actions may not necessarily be in any specific order and will be determined by the majority of the co-moderators.
3. Any dispute regarding all issues will be resolved by the majority of the co-moderators, and that decision is final and indisputable.
These rules and protocol may be changed or altered from time to time. Moderators will post by “special notice” any changes at the time that change is made. It is the responsibility of each member to periodically read these rules and protocols in case they miss notices of change. Ignorance of the rules will not be sufficient to preclude the consequence(s).

OVERVIEW OF NWA OTTAWA GROUP MAIL DELIVERY
Because each email server interprets and delivers email differently, all members don’t receive or see the delivered mail exactly as another does. For example, AOL converts all html-coded mail with graphics for the yahoo digest to text only, while the individual deliveries might contain those graphics. The digest does not come with attachments attached – another reason sending attachments (as noted above) is not a good idea. Extensive signature lines in the digest can be very annoying to members who have to scroll through them several times just to get to the next message, where individual mail deliveries can just be deleted after the content is read, so that excessive text isn’t a problem for them. Our goal has been to set in place parameters that accommodate all members with ease and flow of effective communications. This is an on-going process and the moderators appreciate the cooperation of all members in this effort.
REPLYING TO NWA OTTAWA GROUP MAIL
Members may, whenever they choose, reply to the entire group OR to an individual group member privately. All email servers do not handle replys in a consistent manner, so this gets a bit tricky trying to cover all the different ways in which various members know to reply and what those replys entail and include.
REPLYS TO THE ENTIRE GROUP
Always glance at the “Send To” address before you hit “Send” to respond. IF you see that the “Send To” box of your reply email reads, [email protected], then your reply/response will be sent to the ENTIRE group.
If replying or responding to the ENTIRE GROUP, simply click on “Reply”. You will see that the “Send To” address is [email protected].
SUBJECT LINES
PLEASE CHECK THE SUBJECT LINE on each Reply and, if needed, CHANGE THE SUBJECT LINE to indicate the specific subject about which you are responding. Usually, the subject line will already be correct but if it is not correct OR if it says, “Digest Number XXXX”, simply click your cursor in the subject line box and delete what is typed there, then CHANGE THE SUBJECT LINE by typing in the name of the condition or topic that will better indicate the subject that is being discussed.
SUBJECT LINES MATTER – Subject lines appropriate to the subject being discussed allow members to immediately discern whether or not they want to read that particular email or post. Please be considerate of all members by indicating the specific subject about which you are conversing.
Private Replys
Private replys are encouraged when a member’s comments are directed only to one individual.
If a member wishes to respond privately to only the member who has posted, that member’s email address is always included in their post. For some, the individual’s email address may be a “hot link”; for others, only the address will show and you will need to open a new “write mail” and type or paste that member’s private email address into the “Send To” box in order to respond only to that individual. Always glance at the “Send To” box of your reply to MAKE SURE any private response is actually going to the individual or to the entire group.
Content of Member Responses
When members reply to either the individual NWA OTTAWA group mail or the NWA OTTAWA digest, it is imperative that ONLY THE PORTION of the content about which you have a comment be included in your response/reply. There is no reason for an entire lengthy post to be repeated and included when you are responding or commenting on only one sentence or just a portion of the original post or email.
Simply check the full content of your response and DELETE all but the portion to which you are commenting BEFORE you click on the “Send” button. Again, those members who receive the daily digest must scroll thru the entire content of your response in order to be able to read the next post, so this is a matter of consideration for all members. Moderators may periodically call individual member’s attention to this issue.
