The Pledge

From along time ago,
One warm spring night.
A lover by a stream,
Holding his loves' hands so dear,
Clasped gently in his,
Made a heartfelt pledge to his love...

Though we must be parted,
For just a little while.
Let this not be a good-bye...only the beginning,
Of many wonderful things to come.
With every day that passes,
Shall our love know no bounds?
And grow eternally stronger.
This my love I do pledge earnestly...

With tears in his loves' eyes,
With one last kiss,
She in return did promise him this...

Oh my kind sweet gentle man,
I shall wait faithfully for your return.
For there is no one else for me,
And I love you like no other.

Day after day, year after year,
True to her word...she waited.
Holding on to the day of his returning.
In the hope that they would wed,
And form a wonderful union,
That would last till the end of time.

But even in death, she could not rest.
Bound by their loves pledge.
Down by a stream
Waiting for her true love;
She waits...
