Why don't you believe in God?

"The question could easily be reversed - WHY DO YOU BELIEVE IN A GOD?
I see no evidence for a god...and you can be sure all you like...but I've had some pretty "dark" times in my life, and I've never called out to a god....because there is no such thing, and it would be a waste of breath."  --

I'm not an atheist, as I do believe in something greater-- just not the invisible man in the sky theory. I believe in more of a higher power/life force kind of thing. I guess, sort of like karma and destiny.

Oh that's a big one There is no proof of god, nor compelling logical argument for one, nor for the supernatural-though I am always open to new ones. A comprehensive study of world religion/history reveals gods/myths as the social control device and substitute for science they are.

Because it is the belief (for me) that brings me peace, makes sense, and what I really think is the truth.

I think I have always been agnostic but realized that I was an atheist as I grew up and became more aware of things. As I child and occasionally going to church, I always had the "its just not right" feeling.

I'm agnostic because I really don't know for sure either way whether there is something beyond this physical universe. I lean towards the atheism side a lot more because it seems the most rational based off of the information I have in front of me, and no human being has given me reasonable evidence of the existence of a God that didn't have an earthly explanation. I only hold onto the agnostic title because I really don't know for sure that there is no God. If enough people think something to be true, then you start to wonder if that holds water. I tend to think that the whole idea of God(s) was made up due to people not having proper explanations for things such as weather or disease, but I could be wrong.

Once I realised that the Greeks and Romans (and earlier man) made up/personified entities to explain the unexplainable, like thunder and love, I can to realization that the Judao/Christian/Muslim god was a sham also. Science can explain (mostly...love? pheromones perhaps) the unexplainable.

Because I need proof of his existence. Just to be fair I don't believe in Santa Claus because I haven't seen him either. So called "Miracles" are not proof that he exist just proof that weird random shit can happen to anyone at anytime. Let me give you an example: Like the power going out all over Texas just before a criminals execution so he has another day to live. Ya, God really did good there.

I am an atheist because I do not believe in an G-d. I'm not against G-d or even religion per se.

"It is completely implausible to me. A claim as big as the existence of a god would require a lot of supporting evidence. I haven't seen any. It isn't up to the non-believer to explain herself. It is YOU the believer who should be explaining why you believe in a bod. What kind of god? Why not some other god?"  --
