| She was sitting in a corner, pigtails in her hair. She was facing a bare wall, not moving in her chair. Wishing for her teddy that was lying at her feet, but afraid and unable, to move with in her seat. A tear was escaping from her swollen, crimson eyes. Such a hapless tribulation for someone her size. Father placed her teddy thoughtfully upon her knee, she felt it's careworn fleece, ever so lovingly. She wanted to hold her bear, to hold him close and tight. A hug from her teddy, always made everything right. The bright room was a titter with the yammer of jest, though the sadnesss in her dark eyes is what was expressed. Her thoughts were all a jumble, her feelings of dismay. She bowed her head, and closed her eyes, and began to pray - "Dear God, please fix my legs. I need them, I'm only five." "Oh - yeah, Mom said, to thank you that I am still alive." "But God, you don't understand, I can't stay in this chair!" "Dear God - Are you listening? Is anybody there?" copyright - Tracey Irving |
