Hearsay.
It seems almost natural for humans to gossip and to spread rumours.
Or is it?
People eavesdrop, trying to make sense of the bits and pieces of information they gather. In the end, they come up with a totally distorted version of the original conversation.
The gossip then spreads and manifests itself in the world of wagging tongues.
Somehow, the victims will either learn about the rumour or be confronted by unexpected inquisitive busybodies who are eager to find out more juicy details.
