![]() ![]() In recent years there has been a resurgence of interest in spirituality within the healthcare community. It is often assumed that spiritual care is a fundamental part of holistic nursing care. Research has revealed that the lack of consensus on the definition of spirituality and spiritual care has created uncertainty as to how spiritual care is manifested. Thus it is a challenge for nursing to provide a definition of spirituality which is universal in its approach, that allows for the uniqueness of individuals, and takes into account the importance and relevance of the phenomenon to clinical practice.
