The previous slides focused on Mad Cow disease, and Canada's policies towards the meat industry. The next three pages focus on an alternative lifestyle to meat consumption, persumably, vegetarianism. Nurses play an important role in advocating, facilitating, and educating the public about the well known health hazards of meat consumption. Vegetarianism is a new healthy way of life that many people are choosing regardless of all the diseases associated with meat consumption.

At its broadest defintion, a vegetarisnism diet excludes meat, fish, and poultry. Beyond that, there are many types of vegetarianisms including: Lacto-Ovo Vegetarian (avoid meat, but consume dairy products), Vagan Vegetarian (do not eat any animal products), Marcobiotics (consume food druing seasonal times), and a Fruitarian (only eat fruit)
