This is Mike's music page!!!

This is a picture of the software that I am using to sequence and mix music on my computer. I use the amazing Roland DC-D70 Sound Canvas Audio and MIDI hub as an input device to my Mac (G4 450 mghz dual prosser). The DC-D70 has such a huge library of MIDI sounds that I donft know why I would ever need to buy any real instruments! I am also using a Roland PC-70 keyboard. That makes programming a MIDI song a lot easier because you donft have to punch every note and drum beat in with your mouse. The software that you see in this picture is an amazing program from Steinberg called Nuendo. I also use a program called Cubase from Steinberg to do most of the MIDI programming but I found that Nuendo is a lot better program for recording real-time guitar and vocal sounds so I use that as my main mixing unit. Here is my first song - Metor One. It took about 90 hours to finish a 2 minute and 19 second song. I didnft really know how to use the software wisely when I started this song so it turned out to be a very good learning experience. The picture here is just an image of what I tend to think about when I hear the song. I got it from Visual Paradox. My friends say they picture someone traveling across a vast dessert. Someday I plan on remaking this entire song so that it doesn't sound so "Nintendo-ish". Tell me what you think!

Here is my second song: Random Element. This song started out with a few keyboard chords that I liked and turned into a 6 month project of hell. The main technical difference between this song and Metor One is the emergence of drum and vocal tracks. I realized that it is a lot harder than it seems to write a drum track with a mouse button and not knowing where you are planning on going with the song. Another difference is the number of tracks playing at one time. On average, there are about 6 or 7 tracks playing at any one point in the song. Again, this was very difficult to get them to sound good together because Ifm just one guy, not an entire band.   However, Ifm really happy with the way Random Element turned out. The beginning and end guitar riffs may seem a bit simple but they were written to fit with the very first sound bit of the song (which I downloaded from the internet). Still, the quality of the sound (perhaps not in this mpeg file though) is much better than Metor One. I created this picture here. View this picture larger I thought a "one" in a world of "zeros" would be a good image for Random Element. Enjoy!
