"No, she was checking me out! I was total eye candy to her!" I said as we drove home. "You can't be telling the truth. Kara Harper? The Kara Harper?" Joey said. "Yes! Justin saw her! Tell them she was there." "She was there, and she was checking him out. It was really weird, she was being really obvious. Girls don't normally do that." "I can't believe it. Damn JC, you must be super sexy!" Chris said. I smiled. "Yeah, I know I am." "It's a shame you'll probably never see her again." Lance said. I frowned. "Why does God hate me so much?" Chris smiled. "Because you're so sexy he can't stand it."
I walked into my house and threw my bags onto the floor. I walked to my answering machine and pushed the button. *You have three new messages.* *Hey honey, it's your mom. I thought I'd call to wish you a good trip, but you're already gone. I hope you're having fun! I'll talk to you in two weeks. Bye.* *Hi JC, it's Sara. I know you're gone, but I need you to call me when you get back. We need to talk. Bye.* *JC, it's Eric. We got the movie edited faster than we thought. So we moved up the premiere to December. Call me when you get back so we can talk.* I picked up the phone and called Sara. "Hello?" "Hey. You told me to call?" "Yeah. We have some serious talking to do." "About what?" "Us." "I thought we already did." "Well, yeah, but this is a part two. I don't think we should get back together." "I didn't think we ever were." "Well..... Ok then." "You found someone else, didn't you?" "Yes." "Mmm hmm. Well, I have to go. Bye." "Bye."
"Yo yo yo! Where my bitches at?!" Justin said as he walked into Chris' house. "We right here!" Chris said giving him a high five. I looked up from the couch and waved. "Hey." "What's wrong with you?" "Sara." "I thought you two broke up." "Well, we put our relationship on hold, but she called me last night saying we shouldn't get back together because she found someone else." "Ouch. You ok?" "Yeah, just a little tired of women." "You're not going gay, are you?" Chris asked. "God no. Sorry Chris, but I don't like you that way." He rolled his eyes and fell onto the couch. "They are confusing, aren't they?" Justin said smiling. "Just a tad. I mean, we go out to dinner and she practically fucks me right there, and then she tells me she loves me only to leave me for someone else. I give up, I just give up." "On her or all women?" My eyes widened. "I got it! I'll get Kara Harper." Everyone broke out laughing. "Kara Harper? You've lost your mind! I mean, even if she did check you out there's no way she'd ever be with you. She's so out of your league it's not even funny! Kara Harper! Ha!" Chris said laughing. "I don't care if she's out of my league, I will get her. Just wait. I'll prove you wrong" I got up and left as they continued to laugh. They're wrong. I'll show them.
"JC, you can't be serious." Chris said to me over the phone. "Why can't I be serious? Is there something wrong with going after a girl you like?" "There is when the girl's Kara Harper. All you're going to do is put yourself down. There's no way she'd be with someone like you. No offense or anything. It's just that she's so much better than us. We're has-beens, and she's famous and beautiful. You see my point?" "No, I don't. Chris, you didn't see the way she looked at me." "The way she looked at you doesn't mean anything. Just because she thinks you're a little cute doesn't mean she'd screw you." "That's not what I'm after." "It's not?" "Well, it would be after a while, but not right now. I just want to start a relationship or something." "Ok ok. Say that she'd actually want to be with you. How would you find her?" I was silent. "Exactly. You can't." he said. "There's always a way. Nothing's impossible." "I don't understand you, I really don't, but if you want to do this, fine. But don't come crying to me when she turns you down."
I sat in my living room channel surfing, trying to find something to do. "I hate Sundays, there's never anything on tv." I laid my head back against the couch and closed my eyes. Kara popped into my mind and I smiled. The way she looked at me... There has to be something there. ~ It was a perfect sunset on the beach. The temperature was just right, the water splashed my feet, and the sun cast a golden glow on Kara and mine's bodies. I lay on top of her, kissing her passionately. Her legs were wrapped around my waist and her arms around my neck. I wanted more, so much more. My hand ran down her back and she sat up slightly when she knew what I wanted to do. I untied the top of her bikini and it fell off her shoulders, exposing what I've so longed for. I lightly kissed down her neck and to her chest. "JC, you're such a tease." I looked up at her smiling. "What do you mean?" "You're always doing everything but what I want you to." I raised my eyebrow. "And what do you want me to do?" She kissed me. "I think you know." she said tugging at my trunks. I smiled and helped her take them off. "I sure do love you." she said kissing me. I smiled and took off her bikini bottom. "And I love you." "Well, what are you waiting for?" ~ I was thrown back into reality when the phone rang. "Hello?" "Hey! What are you doing?" Justin asked. "Daydreaming. It's great." "No shit. Wanna come over and get drunk?" "Why?" "Do you need a reason to get drunk? The guys are over here and it just doesn't feel complete unless you're here." I laughed. "Sure. I'll be there in a minute."
~ Kara moaned as I moved up and down on her. I felt her shiver and she screamed quietly. Her hands moved from the sand and up to my back. She ran them through my hair, spreading sand everywhere, but I didn't care. Just as long as she was letting me do this, and she was enjoying it. ~ "Hello? Earth to JC! Snap out of it!" Chris said shaking my shoulders. "What?" "You've been staring off into space for the past ten minutes. I've been trying to talk to you. Thinking about something nice?" I smiled. "Yeah." He snorted. "I don't want to know. Anyway, how's the movie thing going?" "They finished editing early, so the moved the premiere up." "To when?" "December. I need to call him back about it." "Are you still going with Sara?" "I don't think so. She's probably going with her new boyfriend." "That really sucks." "You don't have to tell me. I know."
"Britney called me." Justin said taking another drink of his beer. "What did she have to say?" Joey asked. "She wants me to come to her wedding. Can you believe she has the nerve?" "She's just trying to be nice." Chris said. "Well she's off by a lot! There's no way I'm going. There's just no way." "I wouldn't go either." I said. Chris jabbed me in the side. "You're not helping the situation." he mumbled. "What situation? He shouldn't go to the wedding of the girl he used to love." "JC! He should go. He was invited." "I don't care if I was invited, I'm not going." Justin said. Chris sighed. "She's going to be disappointed." "I don't give a rat's ass if she's disappointed. I'm not going." "Fine, be rude. I don't care."
I walked into my house around two in the morning and walked into the kitchen to get some aspirin. I turned on the light to see Nikki sitting at the table. I stopped. "How did you get in here?" She smiled and uncrossed her legs. "I have a spare." she said waving it in the air. I reached down to grab it, but she quickly moved it away. "Ah ah ah. I don't think so." I sighed. "Fine. What are you doing here?" She stood up and walked up to me. "I wanted to see you." I back up as she continued to come closer to me. "Well I don't want to see you. Please leave." "You're sure not being nice. Come on JC, I know you still want me. So go ahead, take me." she said pressing herself against me. "Please get off." I said pushing her away. "Damnit JC, what is wrong with you? You've never turned me down before." "That's because you were my girlfriend before." "Ouch." "I really want you to leave." "But I don't want to leave. JC, I've missed late nights with you so much. All I'm asking is for one more time." "No. Leave." "I-" "Don't make me call the police. Leave, and give me my key." She threw it at me and walked to the back door. "Fine! Don't ever call me again!" "I haven't!" I yelled as she slammed the door.
"Ahh! I hate women!" I screamed over the phone at Chris. "Are you sure you're not gay?" "Yes!" "Ok, what happened?" "Nikki came over wanting some ass!" "She what?" "She came over wanting sex. So naturally I kicked her out. So I've decided, it's either Kara or no women at all." "So I guess it's no women at all." "No, I'll get her. I will!" "No, you won't. I don't know why you're even torturing yourself with this. Give it up." "I will not. You didn't see the way she laid her eyes on me. You don't understand. I know she'd want me if I could only find her." "How are you going to do that?" "Pray." "And since when has praying ever worked for us?" I was silent. "We've been praying for things to get better for how long now? It hasn't gotten us anywhere." he said. "I thought you weren't bothered by this." "I am! I just didn't want you all to know. I figured if I were strong, you all would be too." "Chris, we are being strong, but it still hurts. You should have told us you felt the same way." "Well, I'm sorry. Uh, I have to go. Bye." He hung up before I could say anything else.
"What are you wanting me to do?" Justin asked. "Just call him. He's your best friend, maybe you could get a word in. I couldn't." "And what do I say to him? 'I heard you're depressed like the rest of us, but don't worry! It'll only get worse?' " "No. Make him feel better. Lie if you have to." "If I have to. Of course I'll have to! Christ, I can't believe you're making me do this." "Well you have to. Hurry up and call him. I'll go so you can." "Yeah yeah yeah. Bye." "Bye." I laid down in my bed and turned off the lights. I hope Chris is going to be ok. I don't want him to end up like me: hopelessly chasing a girl that would probably never want him in the first place. I don't know, maybe she would. I hope she would.
"Chris-" "No! I'm going to keep drinking until my memory is completely gone! Don't try to stop me!" he said picking up a bottle of rum and drinking it straight. I reached across the table and took it away. "I'm serious, you need to stop it." "Oh, you don't think I have more?" he said trying to stand up. Justin pushed him back down into his chair. "JC's right, you need to stop." "But I don't want to. I just want to drink my problems away. You all did it, why can't I?" Justin sat down and rubbed his temples. "What can we do to take this off your mind?" "Get Nsync popular again." "Something possible." "I don't know. I've wanted to go to the beach for a long time now." Justin's head shot up. "Great! We're going tomorrow!" Chris smiled. "Really?" "Yes. I'll call Lance and Joey and we can leave around noon." "Thanks. I mean really, thanks." "Just as long as you stop drinking so much." He smiled. "But I can still drink, right?" Justin laughed. "Yes."
"Did you all bring any sunscreen? I'm see through white and I need my sunscreen." Chris said looking through all the stuff we packed in the trunk. "I have some!" Lance said throwing it at Chris. "Thanks!" "Did anyone bring towels?" Joey asked. "Yeah." I said holding some up. "Are we ready to go yet?" Justin asked standing next to the car door. "Uh, yeah." Lance said giving the bags another check. "Let's go to the beach!" Joey yelled getting into the car. "You know, this is just what I need. Another road trip with you all." I said getting in after him. "You know you love us." Chris said getting into the front passenger seat. "Ok, we're leaving now. Can you all think of anything you forgot?" Justin asked. "Um, no. I think we're good." Lance said. "Ok, but I'm not coming back if you forgot anything." he said starting the car. "Gee, thanks."
We laid out all our stuff on the beach and the guys went into the ocean, while I stayed on the beach where it was safe. I hate the ocean. The beach is good, but the ocean is not. I laid down on my towel and closed my eyes. Maybe I can get that tan I've desperately been needing. Kara popped into my mind and I smiled. ~ "Kara, what do you say we go up to my room?" I asked rubbing my hands on her shoulders. "I don't know. I was thinking something more along the lines of the bathroom." I smiled. "You're so kinky. I love it." I took her hand and led her down the hallway. "So, what do you want to do in there?" I asked. "I don't know. Take a shower, a bath, or maybe just screw on the floor. Take your pick." ~ "Come on JC! The water feels great!" Justin yelled from the water. "No thanks." "You're a party pooper." They all looked at each other and started singing. "Every party has a pooper that's why we invited you. Party pooper, that's you. Every party has -" I sighed and put my hands over my ears. Thank God. I can't hear them anymore.
I faintly heard them singing as they got louder. I squinted my eyes and pressed my hands on my ears harder. The light over me faded and I knew someone was standing over me. Probably one of them come to shout in my ear. Better just get it over with. I opened my eyes and was blinded by the light. "God." I said quickly closing my eyes and rubbing them. I opened them again expecting to see one of the guys, but was surprised to see a woman above me. I couldn't see her face, all I saw was a silhouette. "Hello?" She knelt down next to me and I was shocked to see it was Kara Harper. I quickly sat up and smiled. "Uh, hi." She smiled shyly. "Hi. Fancy seeing you here." she said. "Yeah." She looked down and pushed a strand of hair behind her ear. "So, uh, what are you doing here? I thought you were in Colorado." "I was, but we left. We wanted some heat." "Heat.." There was a moment of silence. "Um, JC?" "Yeah?" "I really want to see you again... I mean, uh, after this, you know." "Yeah. You want to see me again?" "Of course I do. I've wanted to get a hold of you since I met you." My mouth dropped open. "You have?" She smiled. "Yes." All the guys ran up to us and started walking when they were in Kara's line of vision. "Hey. What's going on here?" Chris asked. I rolled my eyes. "Nothing. Please leave." Kara stood up. "Hi. I was wondering where the rest of the Nsync bunch was." They all stood up straight and smiled. "We're right here." Justin said. They all introduced themselves and Kara looked down at me. "Do you have a piece of paper?" I reached into a bag next to me and pulled out some paper. "Need a pen?" "Yeah." I handed them to her and she started writing. She handed it down to me and smiled. "I'll see you later." She said walking away. "Bye." "What's on there?" Joey asked. I smiled. "Her number."
