Emerson Kerouac Fuller Festival

Festival Background

Emerson Fuller Kerouac Festival brings out the transcendent in writing
Come to one of all of the events
Transcendentalism has always been a part of American Life
No Lifestyle Change is needed

The Emerson Fuller Kerouac Festival will be held on May 1st 2009 in Fairfield Iowa. It will be published on internet, local papers, regional ads sheets, and email/chat./blogs and other virtual community channels.

Lead and Planned by Iowa resident and film producer, John Sorflaten, PhD and Teresa Olson former Professor of Psychology and Media in Fairfield and Iowa Film Producer. John will direct the planning stage and Iowa film maker (his/her name) will be a featured speaker. Richard Geldard, PhD, a noted but non-Iowan Emerson writer will be invited to chair the panel session which will be designed and planned to stimulate and allow audience participation as a group activity.

The qualifications of John and Teresa are totally adequate to this task both have the highest degrees (PhD) and both are trained to produce a project like this. John attended film school at USC and Teresa has taught and produced media events with good results. Both are sensible and virtuous people of high integrity. (see bios). Finally , the project is focused on bringing out the transcendental aspect of life in the arts and sciences. Both John and Teresa have invested heavily personally and professionally in the areas as they teach the knowledge of this field of life to others, and they have awakened it in themselves.

The importance of the project is based on the general lack of attention to the transcendent by most of the citizens of the US even though the field of the transcendent is the basis of all art and indeed all knowledge. Of course, each person, each organization, thinks his/ her/their project is important and quite probably more important than the others. We know that everything, all activity, is in the direction of more - more life, more harmony (even the disruptions, violence, can be seen as purifying events in the direction of more) more light. But when you focus persistently on an action, it becomes stronger and more clear in the din and haste of modern life.
