Our loyal NTU fans
will recall that in August, 1999, NTU awarded a Master
Degree in Telecommunications Engineering to Taweechai
Suksithpornchai, who became the first Thai and the first
student in Asia to receive an NTU degree. NTU/Thailand's
new Program Officer, Khun Kessara, called Khun Taweechai
last week to chat about his experience. Here are some
excerpts of that conversation.
Q. How
has NTU degree helped you in your career?
When
I completed my degree I transferred to a new job, where the
knowledge I gained from my courses has been very valuable to
me in doing my work.
Q.
What did you like most about studying with NTU?
I
was able to manage my study time, setting my own schedule,
which was much more flexible than having to attend fixed
schedule classes. I also appreciated the quality of the
instructors, many of whom wrote the textbooks we used, which
enabled me to better understand the subject matter.
Q.
What advice do you have for those thinking about enrolling in
a course from NTU?
Studying
while working at the same time requires more effort and
dedication to both responsibilities. You must be disciplined
and able to manage your time. Set a clear target and try hard
to reach your goal.

ข้อดีของการเรียนทางไกลคือ
เป็นหลักสูตรที่ดี
ด้วยตารางเรียนที่ยืดหยุ่น
สะดวก
เหมาะสมกับคนทำงานที่ไม่ต้องการละทิ้งภาระหน้าที่เพื่อไปศึกษาต่อ
สามารถที่จะจัดสรรเวลาในการเรียนให้เหมาะสมกับการทำงาน
กำหนดตารางเรียนเองได้
ต่างกับการเรียนในห้องเรียนที่มีตารางแน่นอน
นอกจากนี้
บางวิชาอาจารย์ผู้สอนเป็นผู้เขียนตำราที่ใช้เรียนเอง
รายละเอียดในเนื้อหาวิชาจึงค่อนข้างสมบูรณ์
ต่างกับการเรียนมหาวิทยาลัยในประเทศไทยซึ่ง
บางครั้งอาจารย์ผู้สอนไม่ได้เป็นเขียนตำราที่ใช้เรียน
หรือ
ให้ไปหาตำราภาษาต่างประเทศอ่านเป็นหนังสืออ้างอิงบ้าง
สำหรับคำแนะนำแแก่น้องใหม่
ในปีการศึกษา 2546
และผู้ที่สนใจจะศึกษากับ
NTU คุณทวีชัยกล่าวว่า
การเรียนในลักษณะนี้
ผู้เรียนจะต้องมีวินัยในการเรียนและมีความรับผิดชอบอย่างมาก
โดยเฉพาะผู้ที่ทำงานไปด้วยและเรียนไปด้วย
ต้องเอาใจใส่มากๆ
ต้องทุ่มเทอย่างหนัก
รู้จักแบ่งเวลาให้เป็น
ในการที่จะเรียนให้ประสบผลสำเร็จนั้น
ผู้เรียนต้องมีวินัยและอดทน
โดยตั้งเป้าหมายไว้
มีจุดมุ่งหมายที่ชัดเจนและมุ่งมั่น
พยายามอย่างหนัก
เพื่อให้บรรลุเป้าหมายสมความปราถนา
