Week 5 Analysis by Phil Predictions by Marc
Arizona vs. San Francisco Marc’s line: 28-14 Arizona
Arizona’s Jeff Garcia has had a great season to this point, this guy could be
looking at the first MVP award in NTFL history. He will go head-to-head with
Tony Banks of the San Francisco 49ers. Tony was pulled late in the last game,
could we see Troy Aikman get some more playing time this game? If the QB’s can
get going for both teams this should be a good game. But if the Arizona defense
can get some stops, this game could be theirs.
Chicago vs. Green Bay Marc’s Line: 24-14 Chicago
Chicago has been a real surprise this year. Green Bay could come out shooting
with the strong arm of Favre and the amazing speed of Quadry Ismail. Look for
those two to hook up, but if there is anyone that knows how to pass the ball it
is Chicago. This could be an aerial battle.
Jacksonville vs. Oakland Marc’s Line: 28-21 Jacksonville
This is an important game for both teams. Oakland and Jacksonville have both
got off to slow starts, but they have the talent, and the owners to have
successful seasons if the NTFL. Jacksonville’s Fred Taylor could do some damage
if the Oakland Raiders defense is not on their toes. Oakland will look to
Keyshawn Johnson and Issac Bruce, if those guys can get open they got the wheels
to get into the endzone.
Miami vs. Cincinnati Marc’s Line: 21-10 Miami
Maimi is one of the most solid teams in the AFC. Cinci has some holes in their
offense but they have great defensive talent that will make up for it. With
Cinci’s great line backers Napoleon Kaufman could have trouble running. Takeo
Spikes also pressures the Quarterback beautifully and could be defensive player
of the year. But at the same time Miami’s defense has great run stoppage, and
pass coverage. This should be a defensive game, and if Miami’s defense if
forcing turnovers, there offense is going to be scoring touchdowns.
Minnesota vs. Detroit Marc’s Line: 27-21 Minnesota
This gots my vote for game of the week. Minnesota has got one of the most
consistent offenses I have seen in a while. But if Detroit gets a stop, it
could be big. Rob Johnson has had a good season so far, but he is gonna need to
hit up those receivers when the time comes, hopefully he can get some help from
Robert Smith too. Germaine Crowell has been playing some RB, and is tearin’ it
up, he is one of the front runners for MVP. I’m looking for 125+ yards from
this guy. This should be a great one baby!
New England vs. Denver Marc’s Line: 28-7 Denver
I don’t know if this is going to be an exciting game to watch, but I know it
will be very strategic. Denver came off a 2 point win against KC and are
looking to get there offense going on all cylinders, Terrell Davis has been
there but they need Cade Mcnown to get something going. New England has had
some tough games this season and are well prepared for this one. The running
games are there for these two teams, lets see if the passing is. Whichever team
passes better will win the game.
N.Y. Giants vs. Tennessee Marc’s Line: 21-10 Tennessee
I talked to the Giants a little while ago and they said they WANT to win their
first NTFL game, well here is there chance. I pick them to be the underdogs
this game but the heart and determination is there. The Giants will try to plow
over their opponent with power backs Corey Dillon and Ron Dayne. They might
want to go deep to Rod Smith to open the game up, but Kitna has not been
throwing well and it is showing. But when you talk about power you can’t help
but mention Eddie George, he will be doing some plowing of his own. If Jason
Sehorn can close in on him, he could be done for the day. But you can’t talk
about defense without mentioning Ray Lewis, the Giants using two back will try
to force Lewis to guard one of them. My take on this is that Lewis can guard
both of them at the same time no problem. Giants watch the middle of the field,
and don’t go near it.
San Diego vs. St. Louis Marc’s Line: 30-14 St. Louis
Kevin Carter has been playing good defense in St. Louis this year, but he is
going to have to step it up against the San Diego offense. Brad Johnson is
going to be looking deep because of the weak CB’s of the St. Louis Rams. Ike
Hilliard could have a good day if he keeps to the outside avoiding Carter on his
runs. James Stewart only had 10 rushing yards in Week 3, so he has to be more
productive for St. Louis to get a win. This could be a coin toss.
Tampa Bay vs. Washington Marc’s Line: 23-21 Washington
Both of these defenses are fast and can get to the ball, this could be a low
scoring game. Washington will try to break the Tampa Defense with a little
running, roomers have it that Trent Dilfer will be moving out of Washington. He
hasn’t been playing well and I don’t think want to ride his arm to victory on
this one. On the other hand Kurt Warner has a cannon, and if Conway and Toomer
can get by the toughest CB’s in the league, they might just win. But don’t
forget Joey Galloway a definite choice for MVP, in 4 games he has 730 rushing
yards and he is burning defenders with his jukes. I don't’ know if Tampa Bay
can stop this guy, he is on a roll!
Atlanta vs. Philadelphia Marc’s Line: 35-7 Philadelphia
Boy, I know that Atlanta is going to come out firing, if the deep catches are
going for them they could get some points on the board. But you can never ever
can’t out Philadelphia, this team is scrappy, and with could-be MVP Donovan
McNabb at the helm these guy are really really hard to stop. I can’t tell
Atlanta what to do against these guys. If you pressure McNabb he can scramble
away and will complete the pass even under pressure. I suggest you play the
pass, and Philly you play pass too. My take, this will be a one sided game.
Seattle vs. Kansas City Marc’s Line: 35-7 Seattle
After a loss to Miami and St. Louis the Seahawks are finally rollin behind a
great owner in Errol Krupiarz. Roomers have it that Errol could take home the
NTFL Championship. Peyton Manning will not start for KC, and Gus will try to
hook up Fryar deep. Shawn Springs will probably be able to handle the KC
offense by himself. Seattle can either run or pass, and when they pass, they
pass. Bishop was considered a second string quarter back at the beginning of
the season, but the Seahawks have turned him into an All-Pro QB. This will be
the battle of the second stringers. KC watch out!
New Orleans vs. Baltimore Marc’s Line: 21-14 Baltimore
Even after losing Ray Lewis, Baltimore’s defense is the best in the league.
They can guard the run and the pass, and it will be hard for New Orleans to find
which one to go to. If New Orleans turns it over, you can put 7 points up on
the board for Baltimore before the drive even starts. Mark Brunell is a great
team leader, and he makes sure his team scores every time down the field. New
Orleans needs to find a way to stop them, or make sure their offense scores
EVERY time.
