Love Times Two

Brittany Conner was paroozing the sale section of Hot
Topic one day when she heard her phone ring.
"Hello?...What�s up?...Just doing some
shopping...tonight, I can�t....I promised I would
baby-sit for the neighbors...call me tomorrow and lets
do something....okay, take care." She was disappointed
she couldn�t go clubbing with her best friend Kate,
but she had promised she would baby-sit for her
neighbor months ago. It was the parents anniversary,
so Brittany knew backing out wasn�t an option. She
looked at her watch. "Crap!" she blurted out. She
still had to pick up a pizza before picking up the
kids she was baby-sitting for from their swimming
lesson.
She tore out of the store like a bat out of hell. She
wasn�t really paying attention to anything around her.
She turned and bumped right into someone. "Oh God!"
she exclaimed. She felt an elbow right in her
forehead.
"Oh no! I�m so sorry. Are you okay?" a young man said.
Brittany was still rubbing her head. She couldn�t see
with whom she was talking to. "I�m really sorry," he
said again. Brittany lowered her arm to see a young
man with a funky hat and sunglasses staring at her.
She blinked revealing her soft brown eyes. She ran her
fingers through her light brown hair. "Can you get you
something to drink?" he asked.
"No, I have to get going. I am sorry I bumped into
you."
"I�m not," he replied. "Hey! My name is Josh," he said
extending his hand. When she took his hand, she felt a
small piece of paper find its way into hers. She
smiled and let go. "Wait, what�s your name?" he asked
as she began to walk away.
"Brittany!" she yelled and scurried away. Another cute
player she thought to herself as she exited the mall
into the hot Orlando sun. Only players would have
their phone number handy after bumping into the car.
She looked down at the piece of paper. It was actually
a business card with W.E.G. entitled on it. The name
on the card said Josh Chasez and had his phone number
on it. She buried the paper into her purse. She got
into her silver Beetle and left the mall to pick up
the kids

Kate Thompson sighed as she walked over to the bar at
the club. The club was hopping but her best friend
Brittany couldn�t go that night because she had to
baby sit for her neighbors. She had completely
forgotten about that when she agreed to meet her
boyfriend Brad at the club. She and Brad had been
dating for about 6 months now. Sure she liked spending
time alone with Brad but when she went clubbing she
always had more fun if Brittany was there, because
they would take turns pointing out all the cute guys
at the club and see who could get the guy to dance
with them first and for how many times he would dance
with them.
Kate brought her drink and Brad�s drink back to their
booth. When she got there she noticed that like always
Brad was checking out some girls ass. She slid into
the booth next to him and kissed his cheek. Brad
turned to look at her and rolled his eyes as he
grabbed his drink and started drinking it before
turning back around to the girl he had been checking
out. Her hazel eyes held a sadness that only Brad
could cause to show.
Kate tapped his shoulder and patiently waited for Brad
to turn back around. His usually light green eyes were
a dark green as he glared at her. He spoke slowly
through gritted teeth. �What do you want?�
Kate attempted to smile at him. �Well, I was just
wondering if we could maybe go dance?�
Brad shook his head as he pointed to the dance floor.
�Why don�t you go out there now and find someone to
dance with? I�ll join you later. Ok?� Brad watched her
nod before he flashed her a quick smile and then
turned back around.
Kate sighed as she stood up and headed to the dance
floor. �What Would You Do� by City High came over the
loud speakers and soon someone came over to her and
started dancing with her.
An hour later Kate was still out on the dance floor
while Brad was still talking to a group of girls that
had crowded around him. Kate couldn�t blame them
though. He was one of the most gorgeous guys around.
With his light brown spiky hair with blonde tips,
green eyes, amazing smile, and muscular build. What
was there NOT to like?
Kate felt someone come up behind her and wrap there
arms around her waist as the started grinding with
her. She knew it wasn�t Brad but she didn�t really
care at the moment.
She could feel the man�s breath on her ear as he bent
down to whisper (or at least attempt to. It ended up
being more like yelling so she could hear) in her ear.
�I�ve been watching you dance out here for a while.�
Kate nodded to let him know that she had heard him as
she continued dancing. �So?�
The man laughed �So, I was just wondering what such a
pretty girl like you was doing out here all alone. Are
you here alone?�
Kate blushed as she turned to face the man. She had
the most beautiful blue eyes. He was staring so
intently at her she almost forgot to speak. �Well I�m
here with my boyfriend but he is currently over there
talking to a bunch of girls.�
The man nodded. �I see. By the way my name�s Josh.
What�s your�s?�
Kate smiled �That�s a nice name. My name�s Kate.� Just
then the song ended and Kate saw Brad walking towards
them. Kate looked back at Josh �My boyfriend�s coming
over. It was nice meeting you Josh.�
�Same here Kate. I guess I�ll see you around then.�
Josh smiled as he walked away. He turned around to see
Kate still looking at him and gave her a wink before
turning around and heading to the bar. On his way the
girl he had met earlier that day at the mall popped
into his head. What was her name again? Brittany. That
was it Brittany. He had met 2 girls that day he was
interested in. Hey he was now single so why not just
date around instead of having a girlfriend. He hoped
Brittany would call him sometime or that he�d see Kate
again.

Brittany woke up the next morning and decided to give
Kate a call. "Hey sunshine! It�s time to get up and
face the day. Meet for breakfast at the Pier."
"Okaaaaaayyyyy," her friend groaned into the phone.
Brittany pulled her dark hair into a loose ponytail.
She grabbed her things and jetted out the door. It
took her a little while to get situated in her car,
but once she did, she was raring to go. She had to
swing by her parents place and pick up Taylor.
"MOMMY!" Taylor squealed when Brittany came in the
door.
"Hey baby! Did you have fun at Grandma and Grandpa�s
house?" The little girl nodded. "Well say thank you to
Grandpa for letting you stay over."
"Thank you," she said as she waived goodbye. Brittany
mouthed "Thanks Dad" as she ran out the door. She was
very fortunate in that her parents loved taking care
of their two-year-old granddaughter on occasion. The
little girl had dark brown eyes and smiled like her
mother. She was 18 when the little girl was born. She
wasn�t a child but wasn�t an adult either. Still,
having the baby changed her life forever.
They arrived at the Pier. "We are going to see Auntie
Kate," Brittany told Taylor as she lifted her out of
car seat. She was having some problems getting the
stroller out of the car and balancing her child. She
felt a tap on her empty shoulder.
"Need a hand?" a friendly voice asked. She turned
around to come face to face with Josh. His blue eyes
sparkled as he smiled.
"Hi," she stammered. She realized that she had Taylor
in her arms and needed to tell him. "This is my
daughter, Taylor," she said.
"Hi Taylor! I�m Josh." Josh leaned down towards the
little girl, but shy turned away.
"I�m sorry, but she is a little shy of strangers." By
this time the stroller had fallen out of car and onto
the cement. Josh could see Brittany�s frustration.
Without asking, he picked up the stroller and set it
up for her. "Thanks," she said setting Taylor in the
stroller.
"No problem. I love kids. They are the greatest."
"Yes, they are pretty special," she replied walking
away.
"So when are you going to call me?" he asked.
"Sometime!" she called back as she rolled her eyes.
"Thanks!" he called. Brittany continued walking at her
steady pace. She wasn�t about to get involved with
anyone. She had Taylor to worry about. Getting
involved with someone was messy and complicated. This
Josh was a complete stranger that left her his phone
number within 5 minutes of their first meeting. He
certainly wasn�t her type. She made her way to the
entrance of the restaurant. Kate was waiting at the
table.
"Hi Taylor! How are you today? I�m glad you came for
lunch." The little girls face lit up when she saw
Kate. She pointed her finger and giggled with glee.
"It�s good to see you too. How are you Brittany?"
"Not too bad. You, on the other hand, look like you
have had a long night. What happened?"
"Well, Brad came to the club with me. He was his usual
self. At about 2 we finally left and we got into this
big fight. I�m so sick this. It seems like all we do
is fight. Sometimes I wonder if it is even worth it
anymore." Kate�s eyes, that were lined with dark
circles, were beginning to fill with tears. She
sniffled a bit and excused herself. She hated crying
in public. Brittany knew that Brad and Kate were
having some problems. She just wished she could help
her friend.

After Kate excused herself she headed towards the
bathroom with her head down. Since she couldn't see
all too well she ended up walking right into somebody.
"OMG i'm so sorry." Kate said before she even looked
up. When she did she realised who it was she walked
into. It was Josh from the club.
"Woah there." Josh put his hands on her shoulders to
steady her so she wouldn't fall. "It's ok. Well fancy
meeting you here Kate. It's Kate right?"
Kate nodded as she looked into his beautiful crystal
blue eyes. She quickly wipped her face to make sure
she wasn't crying and her face was dry. "Yeah it is.
So what are you doing here?"
Josh laughed quietly to himself "Actually I was just
coming here for some lunch since I don't get to go out
in public alone that often."
Kate tilted her head and looked at him curiously "Oh?
and why's that?"
Josh nervously looked around as he quickly tried to
come up with an answer without giving himself away
"Well...uh...because I work alot and whenever I do go
out I always have one of my friends with me or a
family member. I rarely ever get to just go out and
sit and think while I eat alone."
Kate nodded her head to show that she understood "Oh,
ok. I completely understand now."
Josh smirked "So are you here alone or are you with
Brad?"
Kate leaned against the wall that was next to her as
she quickly glanced into the dinning area to see what
Brittany and Taylor were up to. "Actually
i'm...uh...here with my friend and her daughter. I'm
going out with Brad tonight and I barely ever get to
see my friend lately, so when she asked me to go out
for lunch with her I agreed since she's gonna be home
by herself tonight.
Josh smiled as he watched Kate ramble. He actually
thought it was kind of cute. When she said she was
there with her friend and her friend's daughter he
wondered if maybe she was there with Brittany and
Taylor but he quickly dismissed that thought since it
was impossible. "So, I guess things are going good
with you and Brad. He didn't piss you off last night
or anything?"
Kate checked her watch and noticed that she'd been
gone for about 5 minutes. She knew Brittany would
probably get worried if she waited too much longer.
"Um yeah. He was so sweet last night after you left.
He even apologized to me for being an ass. He said
tonight that he was going to make it up to me so...i'm
looking forward to that."
Josh noticed a few teenage girls walk in and one of
them had an *NSYNC shirt on. He hoped that they didn't
reconize him and that Kate didn't. He also hoped that
if Brittany was still there she didn't notice either.
That could be veyr bad and ruin everything. "Well, I
uh hope you have fun tonight and I see my waitress
putting my food down so I think i better run now."
Kate nodded "Yeah, I should hurry up too before my
friend starts to wonder where I am. I also got to go
to my office today to pick something up before I go
out with Brad tonight."
Josh pulled out his wallet and began searching through
it for something while he talked "Alright then. It was
nice seeing you again and if you ever want to talk or
just get together give me a call."
Kate smiled and looked at the business card that Josh
had just given her. It said JIVE on it and then said
Joshua Chasez. 'He works for JIVE? Wow.' Kate thought
to herself. "Alright i'll be sure too. Nice seeing you
again too Josh. Bye"
"Bye!" Josh called over his shoulder as he walked
away. Once again he had run into Brittany and Kate
today. He hopped one of them would at least call him
back. Brittany was a really cute girl and Taylor was
just so adorable. Brittany seemed like she'd be more
of a challenge than Kate, but he could tell that she
would give in easily and hopefully soon. Now Kate and
was cute also. But there was the problem of Kate
having a boyfriend. But hey guys don't stick around
forever.
Josh walked with his head down back to his table. Out
of the corner of his eye he could see Brittany
cleaning up their table and gathering her stuff. He
smiled and chuckled to himself softly when he saw
Brittany trying to get Taylor to stop playing with the
little bit of food that was left. It was all over her
face.
Kate smiled as she walked back to her's and Brittany's
table and read the note that Brittany had left.
Kate,
Hey. Well you just took so long in the bathroom and I
had to go. Sorry about that. Taylor decided she wanted
to play with her food and got it all over herself so
i'm taking her home to clean her up and then I'll just
be home by myself for the rest of the day and night. I
noticed you looked kinda upset when you went to the
bathroom so give me a call later and tell me about it.
Sorry I left the bill for ya. Just tell me how much I
owe you and I'll pay you back. Anyways have fun with
Brad tonight. I will be watching Sesame Street and
Elmo while you're out having fun. So have some fun for
me. Anyways i think i've written enough. Talk to ya
later girlie.

Kate paid for the bill and walked out to her car. As
she was unlocking it she saw Josh across the parking
lot she waved and smiled at him before she hoped in
her car and went home to get ready to go out with
Brad.
