Love Times Two
By Brittany & Kate
- Five-
Brittany got into her car. "Oh, Taylor, why are you so
messy sometimes?" The little girl sheepishly. Brittany
couldnt help but laugh at her little daughter. The
girl was a pistol. She decided that Taylor needed a
nap so she went home. The entire way she felt like she
was being followed. She figured it was just her
imagination so she put it out of her mind. Taylor had
fallen asleep in her car seat.
Traffic wasnt bad that afternoon, so she made good
time getting home. She sighed as she pulled into her
apartment complex. She ran her fingers through her
hair as she got out of her car. She picked up her
sleeping daughter and brought her inside. She put
Taylor down in her crib. Something caught Brittanys
attention. After she closed the door to Taylors room.
She looked out her front window. She saw a black Jeep.
Then somebody stepped out. "What is he doing here?"
she gasped. She ran to her bathroom and checked her
hair. She pinched her cheeks to put some color in
them. She knew she wouldnt be able to avoid this
visitor. She heard a knock at her door and went to
answer it.
She looked into his crystal blue eyes. "Hi," he
stammered.
"What are you doing here Josh?" Brittany was
bewildered that he was here and that he even followed
her. "Well? Are you going to answer me or what?"
"Please dont be mad. I saw you leaving and since you
havent called me, I thought I would follow you home.
I know its kind of psychotic. Its just, well, I like
you I guess." Brittany blushed at his comment and
gestured for him to come in. He smiled and followed
her.
"Im sorry if this place is kind of a mess. I have
been out running errands all morning. I just put
Taylor down for her nap." She began to clean up the
coffee table. He pulled her hand to get her to stop.
"What are you doing?" she asked.
"Can you sit down so we can talk? I want to get to
know you better. Like, Im Josh and you are Brittany.
I like you and, well, I dont know if you like me."
The phone ran to get it before she had to respond to
the question.
"Hello?" she said.
"Its me," Kate said into the phone. "Brad and I had a
fight and I think its over." Taylor began to cry in
the bedroom. Brittany felt like her world was spinning
out of control.
"Why dont you come over tonight and we can talk after
Taylor goes to bed. I will you around 7 or something."
"Okay, thanks Brit," Kate sniffled. Brittany hung up
the phone and went to get her daughter. The girl was
fussy from her nap. She smiled when her Mom walked in.
"Hey baby-girl. We have a visitor." She carried Taylor
into the living room where Josh was sitting. He smiled
when they entered. Taylor hid in Brittanys shoulder.
"So are you going to be shy today?" Brittany said into
her daughters ear. "You remember Josh silly girl."
Taylor lifted her head out of her shoulder and smiled
at Josh. "Now you remember dont you?" Taylor pointed
at Josh and started giggling. Joshs cell phone rang."
"Hello?...Shhh....Okay, Ill see you in a few." He
hung up the phone and stood up. "I have to go. One of
my friends is dealing with a breakup. Can I come over
tomorow afternoon and maybe the three of us can do
something?"
"That would be great. Ill see you at noon or so?"
"See you then," he said. "Bye Taylor," he said and
kissed the little girls forehead. "Bye Brittany," he
said giving her a small kiss on the cheek and a
squeeze on the arm. With that he was out the door.

Kate slowly walked to her front door when she heard a
soft knock. She gave a weak smile to Josh as she
closed the door behind him.
Kate led him to her living room and sat on the couch
next to him. "um... thanks for coming over. I hope I
didn't interrupt anything."
Josh smiled slightly "No problem. I was just visiting
a....friend of mine. Nothing big."
Kate looked up at him with sad eyes "I'm sorry. You
didn't have to leave. I would've been ok. I'm going to
my friends later on tonight I would've survived."
"No. It's ok. So what did you guys get into a fight
about this time? I thought you were going to have a
nice evening out with him."
Kate laughed bitterly "Yeah well he can't keep his
hormones in check. I really don't want to talk about
it right now. Although I think our relationship may be
over. I don't know. I'll give him time to cool down
and think about it and we'll see where it goes from
there."
Josh nodded "Ok. But if ya ever do feel like talking
about it i'm willing to listen."
Kate stretched and glanced over at her TV. "Thanks.
Hey um... do you want to watch a movie or something?"
Josh smiled "Sure why not? I'm free until tomorrow. I
have to meet up with my friend."
Kate walked over to her movie collection and looked
over them. "Is Armaggedon ok?"
"Yeah. That's a good movie. I wouldn't mind seeing it
again." Josh watched her carefully as she put the
video into the VCR.
Kate sat next to Josh on the couch and before the
previews were even over she was already sleeping
peacefully with her head resting on his lap.
Josh absentmindedly ran a hand through her hair as he
watched the movie. He smiled softly when he noticed
she was a sleep. A few minutes later he felt his eye
lids starting to get heavy and droop. He fought to
stay awake but eventually gave in and fell asleep.
**2 hours later**
Kate woke up in a daze and at first didn't remember
where she was. After a few minutes she remembered
where she was and who was next to her.
She looked at her watch and noticed that it was 6:45
p.m. She had to hurry up and get to Brittany's. Kate
looked at Josh's peaceful face and almost hated to
have to wake him up.
"Josh." Kate said as she pushed his shoulder to wake
him up.
His eyes slowly opened and he smiled when he saw Kate
looking at him. "Hello. Did we fall asleep?"
Kate chuckled softly "Yeah we did, and unfortunatley I
have to go if I want to make it to my friend's on
time."
Josh nodded as he stood up and stretched "Ok. I should
probably get going too. It was nice to just sit with
you for a little while. Have fun at your friends. If
you ever need anything again feel free to call me. I
hope things work out with you and Brad."
Kate unlocked her car door and looked at Josh. "I will
and thank you. For everything. I hope things work out
for us too."
Josh got in his car and followed Kate down the road a
little ways until he turned to head home.
Kate knocked on Brittany's door and waited patiently
for her to answer the door. She wanted to tell her
what happened, but at the same time she didn't want
to.
Kate smiled brightly and hugged her best friend when
she opened the door.
Brittany smiled and hugged her friend back. "Hey! Come
on in. How are you?"
Kate walked into Brittany's living room "Hey. I'm
doing good I guess. I had the afternoon to think about
things and I don't know if things are going to work
out between me and Brad. But i just don't know."
Brittany looked sympathetically at her friend. "Aw...
I hope things do for you too. But if they don't then
just remember that if it's meant to be then it'll
happen. If not you'll just go your seperate ways and
never look back."
Kate smiled softly. Brittany always did know how to
lift her spirits a little bit."I know. Thanks."
Brittany nodded "No problem. That's what friends are
for. So anyways what were you two fighting over?"
Kate sighed and looked at the ground "Well, we went
out for lunch and while we were there he kept hitting
on the waitress. So I asked him to just stop and not
hit on anyone tonight and just pay attention to me. He
said he always paid attention to me and I was the one
who would hit on guys. So we started arguing and he
basically said that it's ok for him to flirt with
girls, hit on girls, and whatever else he wants to do
but it's not ok for me to do that. So basically I
asked him to take me home. Then I called you. That's
about it."
Brittany sat back on the couch with a big sigh and
closed her eyes. "What an ass! I still don't see why
you stay with him, but it's your life and you can do
what you want to do. He is nice to you half the time
but the other half he treats you like shit. Next time
I see him i have a few words to say to him. You guys
should just talk about it and maybe come to some type
of agreement or understanding."
Kate looked around the room as she tried to calm down.
She was becoming angry and upset again thinking about
it. "Yeah. Maybe. So anyways what have you been up to
today?"
Brittany smiled to herself as she remembered Josh
showing up at her apartment that afternoon and how
sweet he seemed to be...so far."Oh, nothing really.
When you called Taylor had just woken up from a nap
and was pretty cranky. Other than playing with Taylor
and cleaning up my house nothign really."
Kate nodded. "Sounds like so much fun."
Brittany nodded and was about to respond when she was
cut off by the sound of her phone ringing. She reached
over to her coffee table and picked up the cordless.
"Hello?"
"Hi Brittany?" A male voice asked from the other end.
"Yes? Who's this?" Brittany asked as a look of
confusion crossed her face.
The man laughed "This is Josh. I just wasn't sure if I
dialed the right number. Your number is very similar
to my friends number."
Brittany smiled and glanced over at Kate who was
looking around the room pretending that she wasn't
listening. "Hey Josh. What's up?"
Josh smiled even though she couldn't see him.
"Nothing. What are you doing right now?"
Brittany sighed and looked over at Kate who was now
just staring at her with a smirk on her face. "I'm
just talking to a friend who is going through a
possible break-up with her boyfriend."
Josh wondered if they could possibly be talking about
the same friend. I mean could her friend also be Kate?
Or was it just a coincidence? It couldn't be Kate.
Could it? "Ok, well then I'll let you get back to your
friend but, I was just wondering. WHat do you want to
do tomorrow?"
Brittany thought of all the possible things they could
do tomorrow with Taylor. "Well, we could all go out
for a picnic lunch around 12 and when we're done we
could go to the carnival and take Taylor on the kiddy
rides. After that if you want to go out just me and
you I can find someone to watch Taylor."
Josh was a little hesitant to agree. Park? Carnival?
Those may not be the best places to go because of the
crowds. There was a possibility of him being reconised
and Brittany didn't know who he really was yet. But
then again going out all afternoon with her and Taylor
and getting to know both of them and then going out
alone with Brittany did sound like fun. "Um...yeah
that sounds great."
Brittany caught his hesitation and decided not to let
it slide "Well, we don't have to go if you don't want
to. We can always do something else."
Josh rubbed his face. "No, we can go. I don't mind. It
sounds like fun. I was just checking to make sure I
had nothing to do tomorrow."
Brittany nodded and glanced at Kate who was now
playing with Taylor on the floor. Brittany frowned.
Taylor was supposed to be in bed. "Ok, if you're sure.
I'd hate to cut this short but Taylor has decided to
get out of bed when she's supposed to be sleeping so I
need to go put her back to bed."
Josh smiled at the thought of Taylor being up and
Brittany trying to put her back to bed. "That's ok.
I'll be at your apartment tomorrow around 12 to pick
you and Taylor up. ok?"
Brittany picked Taylor up and walked down to her room
to put her back to bed. "Alright. That sounds good."
Josh laughed as he heard Taylor's little whines of
protest saying she wasn't tired and didn't want to go
to bed and Brittany's groan of frustration. He made a
mental note that if possible he should stay tomorrow
night and put Taylor to bed. Just for fun. She was an
adorable little girl. "Alight. I'll see you then. Tell
Taylor goodnight for me. Goodnight Brit."
Brittany smiled when he told her to tell Taylor
goodnight for him and then called her Brit. "Alright.
Goodnight Josh."
Brittany hung up the phone and kissed Taylor on the
forehead."Night Taylor. Josh said goodnight too. Yo
remember Josh? He was here earlier today?" Brittany
watched Taylor nod and her sleepy eyes slowly started
to close. "We'e going to see him tomorrow. Now sleep
tight I love you sweetie."
Brittany smiled softly when she heard her daughter
talk through her sleepiness "Nigh, Nigh Mommy."
Brittany walked back into her living room and smiled
at her friend. "I am so sorry for all the interuptions
tonight."
Kate laughed "It's ok, you had no control over them.
But anyways I should go. I'll talk to you later. I'll
be fine so don't worry about me."
Brittany said bye to Kate and walked down to her
bedroom. She flopped on her bed and sighed. "What have
I gotten myself into? Going out with a almost complete
stranger tomorrow with Taylor and then having a date
with him? I must be going crazy. Although he is kinda
hott and does seem really sweet. Ok, I know i'm going
crazy because i'm talking to myself."
Brittany turned off the lamp next to her bed and
crawled under her covers anticipating the day to come
with Josh and Taylor.
Love Times Two
- Seven -
Taylor woke up bright and early that morning. She was
her smiley energetic self. "Good morning Sunshine!"
Brittany said as she lifted Taylor out of her crib.
The little girl giggled with glee. "Are you excited
for our day with Josh? I know Mommy is." Brittany
began to day dream about Josh. She hadnt met someone
who treated her so well. He was incredible and Taylor
liked him immensely which was important. She fed
Taylor and put her in a sky-blue sundress. She swept
the little girls curly blonde hair into a soft
ponytail. Brittany sat Taylor down in front of the
television for "Sesame Street." Brittany went to get
ready herself.
It had been weeks since Brittany had actually dressed
up. She went through the hoards of clothes in her
closet trying to figure out what outfit suited her.
She decided on a knee length denim skirt and a black
top. She wanted to be comfortable but look a little
bit sassy as well. She decided to wear her hair down.
She brushed through it and put on a hint of makeup to
accentuate her features. The phone rang. "Hello?"
Brittany said.
"Hey, its Kate."
"Good morning. How are you feeling today?"
"Im doing pretty well. I didnt sleep well, but I
think that is to be expected."
"Yes, totally understandable though. What are you up
to today?"
"I think I am going to take a day to pamper myself.
Ill probably watch some old movies and have a good
cry. Its just what I need. How about you?" Kate said
yawning into the phone.
Brittany hesitated about telling her friend about her
date. She didnt want Kate to feel worse than she
already did. "Im spending the day with Taylor. She
needs some time with her Mom."
"Sounds fun. Have a good one Brit."
"You too Kate," she said as she hung up the phone. She
sighed and looked at her watch. It was 11:30. Josh was
going to be there in just a little bit. She decided to
turn on the television in her room. She flipped on MTV
to see what was playing. It was this group of five
guys dancing and singing. She knew she had been out of
the loop for a little bit, but five guys singing and
dancing? She decided to keep watching and see what all
of it was about. The beat was good. They were dressed
as dolls in a toy shop. Another shop focused on them
dancing. She looked at one of the guys. He had dark
hair and shimmering blue eyes. The camera zoomed in on
him. "JOSH!" she yelled. There was Josh dancing and
singing with these other guys. She couldnt help but
start laughing. She watched the rest of the video. The
name of the group was *Nsync. She pulled out his
business card, and sure enough, Jive Records produced
the song and was on his card. "Well Josh, it looks
like I get to have some fun with you later," she said.
The doorbell rang. Taylor ran to the open screen door.
Brittany was not very far behind. "Hi Taylor!" Josh
said. The little girl ran to her mother but continued
to look at Josh.
"Come on in," Brittany said as she opened the door and
let him in with her free arm. "How are you today?" she
said putting Taylor down.
"Im fine," he responded. "How are you two doing?"
"Well, Taylor is very excited about going to the
carnival and on a picnic."
"Well, how about Taylors mom? Is she excited about
going out after Taylor goes to her grandparents
house?" Brittany nodded and smiled. "Good," he
mouthed. They packed a picnic lunch and were off to
the park. Josh put on a hat when the arrived at the
park.
"Why are you putting a hat on?" Brittany asked.
"I hate getting my nose sunburned," he said with some
hesitation. "They hurt!" he said in a childish voice.
Taylor saw the Ferris wheel and pointed to it. "You
want to go on it Taylor?" Josh asked.
"Yea!" she exclaimed. She took his hand and ran to
Ferris wheel. Brittany started laughing as she saw her
daughter scurry away. Josh was smiling too. He seemed
to really like Taylor. She followed them at her own
pace. She joined them on the Ferris wheel. "Mommy!"
Taylor squealed.
"Hey baby," Brittany replied. They went up and around.
Taylor laughed and pointed at everything that was
going on around her. Josh encouraged her enthusiasm
and acted interested in everything she discovered.
Brittany was looking at him and her daughter. He
looked up and winked at Brittany. She smiled at his
acknowledgment when Taylor pulled him back towards her
to look at the cotton candy man beneath them.
Taylor rode on rides for about an hour before she
decided she had enough. Brittany knew that her 2-year
olds attention span was minimal. "Lets go eat some
lunch," she said. Josh ran back to the car and grabbed
the picnic basket. They walked a little ways to grassy
knoll that was happily situated under and oak tree.
The sky was as clear as it could be. Taylor munched on
Cheerios and a banana while Josh and Brittany ate
sandwiches. Taylor gabbed on about Cheerios and
Brittany smiled as her daughter began to trust Josh.
He listened to every word the little girl said.
It was soon past 3. Brittany knew Taylor needed to get
a nap in or she would get real fussy. She told Josh
that they had to go. Taylor fell asleep in the car and
they were at the Grandparents house before they knew
it. Brittany took the little girl to her room and laid
her down on the bed. Taylor stirred a little bit but
didnt wake up. She found Josh in the living room
talking to her parents. "Are you ready?" she asked
when she entered.
"Sure am! It was nice to meet you all," he said as
they exited.
"Thanks Mom and Dad! I will see you in the morning."
She followed Josh to his Jeep. He opened the door for
her and let her in. He ran around to the other side
and got in.
"Are you ready?" he said.
"Yes!" she exclaimed in her best Taylor impression.
Josh laughed and drove off. "So where are we going?"
she asked.
"Youll see," he replied. "Why dont you close your
eyes and go to sleep. It will be a little while before
we get there." Brittany welcomed the invitation and
drifted off into dreamland.
Brittany woke up when the Jeep stopped. She yawned and
stretched. She looked out the window. All she could
see where miles and miles of sandy beaches and ocean
waves. She turned and looked at Josh who was smiling
at her like a child. "I hope you like out
destination," he said.
"I cant believe you took me to the beach. Its only 3
hours away from Orlando!"
"I know, and that is why I took you here. I thought
you needed a night of rest and relaxation. I packed
the leftovers from lunch in the back if you are
hungry." He turned off the car and put on his
headlights. "Come on!" he said jumping out of the car.
He ran over to her side and got her door. She exited
the car and took his hand. He led her to he beach and
wrapped his arms around her. "Its kind of cold
tonight," he said pulling her tighter.
"That was a smooth move," she said.
"Oh you think?" he said.
"Yeah, I mean, its not everyday a girl gets hugged by
a popstar." He pulled away and closed his eyes. She
folded her arms and looked at him trying to be mad.
"Well?" she said.
"I uhhh, I wanted to tell you. I mean, everybody knows
I am J.C. Chasez, but when we met, I was so struck.
You had no idea who I was and it was refreshing. Plus,
you were a challenge. You didnt want to be obtained
and I liked that. I should have told you and I am
sorry. Are you okay with all of this."
"I must admit it caught me off guard, but you have
been such a gentleman. You are so great with Taylor.
If I got mad at you about your job, it would be like
you getting mad at me about Taylor. I couldnt be here
with you now if you didnt like her."
"I couldnt be with you now if you didnt like me as
Josh." He walked towards her. "So now you know," he
said huskily. She closed her eyes. He leaned towards
her. There lips met. He kissed her deep, with as much
passion as he could sputter. Her heart beat faster and
faster. He held her even closer and moved his hand
down her back. She pulled his neck. He let go of the
kiss. She opened her eyes and smiled at him. He was
looking down at her smiling. He rubbed his thumb on
her cheek. She became flushed at his touch.
She kissed him back, with more power and passion than
before. He gave into her kiss letting her take
control. She suddenly pulled away catching her breath.
He started laughing. She began to laugh too. "Ive
never been kissed like that by a mother before," he
said.
"I hope you havent kissed many other mothers."
"No, just my mom," he said.
"Well thanks for comparing me to your mom," she said
"Trust me kissing you is nothing like kissing my mom.
Its better," he said pulling her for another kiss.
Brittany gave into all of it. She loved being with him
and close to him. She felt safe and okay with him.
Brittany woke up in J.C.s bed the next morning. She
looked at the alarm clock. It was after 9. Josh was in
the shower. She decided to just lay in bed and think
about the night before.
(Flashback)
Their kiss ended, leaving them wanting more. Brittany
shivered when the wind blew. "Are you cold?" he asked.
"We can go back if you want. Its getting kind of
late," he said yawning.
"I think you are the one that is tired," she replied.
"Why dont I drive back to Orlando. You can sleep, and
when we get back to your place, well decide what do
with your car and such."
"Sounds good to me," he said as they walked back to
the car. He was asleep within five minutes. Brittany
began to think about the night on the beach she had
spent with Josh. She couldnt remember the last time
she had fun with a person that was under the age 5.
She was sad to see the night end, but knew that it
wouldnt be the last night they would spend together.
She thought about Taylor and her parents. She knew how
much they loved their little granddaughter. She
thanked them everyday for their support. When she
became pregnant, they were their through thick and
thin. She couldnt have asked for better parents.
A few hours later, she pulled into Joshs driveway. He
awoke quickly. "Do you want to come in and watch a
movie? he asked. She nodded and followed him aside.
"The television is broken downstairs, so we will have
to go watch it in my room."
"So thats your sly way to get girls upstairs," she
said. He winked and led her to his room. His bed was
neatly made. It looked like no one had slept in it in
weeks. He ran to the bathroom. "I guess you have to
pee," she said.
"Yup!" he exclaimed from inside the bathroom. She went
through his movie collection and settled on watching
"Billy Madison." She figured it was light enough that
could actually talk during it. He came out of the
bathroom without his shirt on. He had his sweat pants
on. "I figured my sleepy time clothes would be the
best," he said. She smiled and went into the bathroom
to change into some pajamas as well. When she came out
he was on the bed, happily watching the movie. "I know
you are mesmerized by my bulging biceps," he said
flexing his muscles. She ran to the bed and threw a
pillow at him. He grabbed her and started tickling her
wildly. She started laughing hysterically.
"STOP IT!" she yelled. "Im trying to watch the
movie," she said.
"Okay, well watch the movie," he said giving up. He
leaned back against the bed. She rested her head on
his stomach. Hey eyes became heavy and she drifted off
to sleep. He ran his fingers through her hair. He
kissed her forehead and closed his eyes. He turned off
the movie and went to sleep.
(End of Flashback)
"Good morning!" he said. He was dressed and was towel
drying his hair. "Did you sleep well?" he asked.
"Too well," she said burying her head in the pillow
again. "I dont think I have slept that well in a
year. Taylor keeps me on my toes. She has so much
energy. Its ridiculous and it is probably going to
kill me," she said.
"She is a doll though," he said sitting down on the
bed. He put on some socks and shoes. "Get up though. I
think we should get breakfast before we go get Taylor
so we can end this date happily." She groaned, lifted
the covers up, and got out of bed. She closed the
bathroom door. He snickered at her morning mood.
Although he didnt want to wake her, he knew she
needed to get back to her daughter. She was ready to
go within five minutes.
They drove to a bagel place and got some bagels and
coffee. He drove her to her parents home to get
Taylor. When they pulled in the driveway, he sighed
knowing that all good things must come to an end.
"Well, here we are," he said. She shrugged her
shoulders. He laughed and pulled her in for a kiss
goodbye. She held onto him for as long as she could.
He finally broke their kiss. "I had a good time
tonight...I mean this morning. I hope we can do this
again sometime."
"Me too," she replied. She waved as he drove away. She
got into her parents house and Taylor was at the door
waiting. "Hi sweetie!" Brittany exclaimed.
"Mommy kissed a boy!" Taylor squealed. Brittany picked
her daughter up and gave her raspberry on her stomach.
The little girl giggled and giggled. Brittany could
tell she was going to have a good day
Love Times Two
- Eight -
JC watched in his rear view mirror as Brittany watched
him drive away and then went inside her parents house.
He smiled as he saw Brittany pick up Taylor and Taylor
laughing.
JC drove around downtown Orlando for a while as he
thought about all the things going on in his life. He
had met two wonderful girls. Brittany and Kate. The
most adorable two year old. Taylor. The only thing
bothering him was that he would be leaving with the
guys to go on tour in 8 weeks, and in 4 weeks he and
the guys were flying out to L.A. to prepare for the
tour. Normally they prepared for the tour in Florida,
but this time Wade was going to be out in L.A. so
that's where they had to be. Plus Justin wanted to be
near Britney. Luckily JC had recently bought a nice 3
story house in L.A. right down the street from Justin
and Britney and all the other guys owned houses or
apartments there.
JC sighed. He normally looked forward to going out
there, especially since he hadn't spent much time out
there so far. But he wanted to spend more time with
Brittany, Taylor, and Kate. Maybe he could convince
Brittany and Taylor to go out their the last 2 weeks
and Kate to go out the first 2 weeks so he'd have
company. It's be crazy and he'd barely see them. Or
even if they just flew out for a few days.
JC made a left turn as he decided to head over to
Kate's and possibly run his idea by her. He had
dropped Brittany off a few hours ago. He hadn't even
realized that he'd been driving around for so long.
JC knocked on Kate's door and waited patiently for her
to open the door. He heard movement inside and then
the clicks of the locks before he finally saw Kate's
smiling face. Her hazel eyes lit up at the sight of
him.
"Hi."Kate whispered "What are you doing here?"
"Um... I just thought I'd stop by to see what you were
up to today. I didn't interrupt anything did I?"
Kate shook her head and slightly smiled "No."
"Ok, good." JC nodded his head as he looked around
nervously "So...why are we whispering?"
"I'm watching my friend's daughter and she's sleeping
right now. So i don't want to wake her up." Kate
explained
"Oh, ok. What's her name?" JC asked as he sat on her
couch.
Before Kate could answer a sleepy two year old walked
into the room rubbing her eyes. She went un-noticed at
first until she saw JC. A big and bright smile spread
across the two year old's face.
"Josh!!!" Taylor screeched as she ran as fast as her
little legs could carry her over to JC.
JC turned his head at the sound and smiled brightly
when he saw Taylor running towards him. He stood up
from his seat and scooped up the little girl when she
reached him. "Hey Taylor! How are you? I thought you
were with your mommy today!"
JC spun around with Taylor as her excited and happy
laughs rang through out Kate's house. JC stopped, but
still held onto Taylor as he looked at Kate's confused
face.
Kate stood in shock at what she had just witnessed.
"Um...how does she know you and how do you know her?"
JC shifted Taylor to his other arm as she played with
his lion pedant that was around his neck.
"Well...um... her mom...Brittany and I have gone out a
few times. How do you know Brittany?"
Kate wondered why Brittany never said anything to her
but brushed it off for the moment.
"Well...um...Brittany and I have been best friends
since Elementary school and we both moved down here to
go to college. So I've known her for a long time."
"Oh. Ok, i get it now." JC replied "So then where is
she now? I just dropped her off at her parents house
so she could pick up Taylor like 3 hours ago."
Kate laughed quietly to herself as Taylor grabbed JC's
hair and he watched her out of the corner of his eye
to make sure she didn't pull on his hair. "Well, she
got called into work today. I don't know if you know
what she does but she's one of the people down at Sea
World who let people swim with the Dolphins. She
absolutely loves dolphins. Anyways they had a shortage
of people working their today so they called her in
for a few hours. Actually she should be getting home
soon. She'll probably call me when she does so I will
know that i can bring Taylor home."
JC grabbed Taylors hand as she lightly tugged on his
hair. She giggled and he couldn't help but laugh at
how cute and innocent she was. "She works at Sea
World? She never told me that. That's cool. I'll have
to go there someday and see her at work."
"Yeah. She's gets me in free. It's cool. It's funny to
see Taylor when she's there. She absolutely LOVES the
dolphins. Just like her mommy. Her mommy has always
loved dolphins. Taylors daddy never did like dolphins
or the fact that Brittany worked there. He always told
her to get a real job. He thought of her job as a joke
and never took it seriously." Kate shook her head as
she thought about Taylors father.
JC looked at Taylor who had gone back to playing with
his necklace."What about her father? Brittany hasn't
said much about him. What was he like? Does he even
know about Taylor?"
Kate shook her head. "I can't tell you. If you want to
know that stuff you'll have to ask Brittany. All i can
tell you is that it's a very touchy and sensitive
subject with her. That's a part of her life that i
know she has blocked out from her memory. He hurt her
badly in more ways than one. Emotionally and
physically. But that's all I'll tell you because that
is something you should to to her about."
Taylor began to squirm in JC's arms so he put her down
and watched as she ran over to a backpack in the
corner and began to pull out a few toys."Ok, I
understand. I'll have to ask her about that next time
e i see her. Alright, anyways...how are you holding
up? Ya know with the whole Brad thing?"
Kate shrugged as she flopped down on her couch. She
felt the cushions shift as JC sat next to her. "Um...I
dunno. Good I guess. I was on the phone with him when
Brit called so I didn't get to talk to him that much.
Basically i think we're going to stay together. I mean
i DO love him...i think. Sometimes i question if i
do..."
JC was now playing with some toys that Taylor had
brought over to him. He stopped for a second to reach
out and grab Kate's hand. He squeezed her hand lightly
and gave her a small smile."You know, if you love
someone then you NEVER have to question yourself about
whether you really do or not. I mean if the guy treats
you like shit you shouldn't stay with him even if ya
do love him. If he treats you the way you deserve to
be treated then stay with him."
Kate nodded. "I know. I mean most the time he treats
me fine. But sometimes he treats me like shit and
ignores me. I'm used to it by now. I think we're going
to give 'us' another try. I just hope it works out.
But..." Kate was cut off mid-sentence by the ringing
of the phone. She politely excused herself and walked
into her bedroom to answer the phone.
JC watched as Kate left and secretly hoped that things
with her and Brad would work out...even though a part
of him didn't want them to work out. He sat on the
floor with Taylor and played with her while he waited
for Kate to get off the phone.
*~*~*Meanwhile*~*~*
Kate walked into her room and picked up the phone.
"Hello?
"Hey girl. It's me." Brittany said when she heard
Kate.
"Hey Brit. Ya home from work yet?"Kate closed her door
so JC wouldn't hear their conversation.
Brittany sighed "Yeah. Now all i wanna do is have
someone pamper me. Ya know. Like cook dinner for me
and Taylor. Help me with some of the work around the
house and help me get Taylor to bed. But unfortunately
it's just me, me, and me to do all the work."
"I'm sorry girl. So what did you do last night?
Anything that involves a tall, dark haired, blue eyed,
man?" Kate asked with a smirk
"What....I...how did you find out? I mean...well yeah
i did...but..."
Kate heard Brittany groan in frustration. "Well...it
turns out that Josh is also a friend of mine. He came
over today to talk and i didn't think he knew you or
Taylor. Imagine my surprise when Taylor woke up, came
running into the living room screaming Josh and Josh
screams Taylor and picked her up! When did you meet
him and how come you didn't say anything to me?"
"I'm sorry. I wanted to tell you, but with the whole
Brad thing I didn't want to make you feel worse by
telling you i had a date last night. I actually ran
into him the other day when I was at the mall. What
about you?"
Kate sat on her bed and stared at a picture of her and
Brad. "I met him the other night when i was at the
club with Brad."
Brittany sighed"Cool. So um....i'm home and you can
bring Taylor home when you're ready. I'm just going to
sit in front of the TV and do nothing."
"Alright, I'll bring her home in a few minutes. Just
rest up. Bye Brit."
"Thanks. Bye Kate."
Kate walked out of her room to see JC sitting on the
floor still playing with Taylor. She sat down next to
him and just watched them for a few minuted. "That was
Brittany. She was just letting me know that she was
home and that i could bring Taylor home. Poor girl is
so tired it's not even funny. She just sounds so dead
tired and has so much house work to do. But I don't
mean to be rude, but i think Taylor and I should leave
now. I still have to talk some more with Brad and I
bet she wants to see her mom."
JC nodded and looked up from playing with Taylor.
"Alright. But um...I can take her to Brittany's if you
want me too. I don't mind. You've been with Taylor
almost all day. You just stay here and take care of
what you need to do."
Kate sighed and stood up along with JC. "Would you
really? That'd be great."
JC slowly started to pick up Taylors toys and put them
back into the backpack. After a few minutes the bag
was slung over his back and he was holding Taylor in
his arms. Kate walked with him to the door.
"Alright. Well thank you for doing this for me. I
really appreciate it. And thanks for coming by
today."Kate said as she held her door open for JC.
"It's no problem. I'll probably call you sometime this
week or come back. I hope you and Brad work things
out." JC played with Taylors foot and didn't look up.
"Ok, well. I'll see ya later. Bye Josh."
"Yeah...bye." JC quickly leaned over and kissed Kate
on the cheek before he headed out to his Jeep while
carrying Taylor.
It took JC a few minutes to get Taylor situated in the
car. The whole way back to Taylors house he listened
as Taylor talked about anything that came to mind. He
had quit a few laughs at some of the things she said.
Soon he pulled up in Brittany's driveway. He got
Taylor out and her bag and walked up to the front
door. He knocked 3 times and waited patiently for
Brittany to open the door.
