Chapter 31 Part 3
When the song ended Mackenzie had tears in her eyes. She didn't know what to do or what to say and although Jenna and Lynn had been assuring her that the song was for her...she still had some doubt.
Everyone in the VIP booth made there way to the hotel separate from the guys, which was good for Mackenzie because she need time to think. Within 45 minutes Mackenzie and Jenna were ready to go to the party downstairs in the hall which was a guaranteed good time. The only problem was that JIVE was throwing the party, therefore it had to be semi-formal.
Mackenzie went to the hall alone in a simple red dress. It came to a point on the side a little bit below her knees. One side of the top crossed over the other with the same red fabric fringe adding style. She wore red shoes and left her hair down and with a little bit of curls. She said hello to everyone inside the hall for a few moments as they congratulated her on her performance but then excused herself and stepped outside onto the balcony.
Once outside she stood with her hands holding onto the balcony fence and looked up at the clear night sky. She yawned and almost yelled when she saw a shooting star. She quickly shut her eyes and made a wish. As she opened them she heard a voice behind her, "What did you wish for?" Justin said as he stood next to her.
"If I tell you...it won't come true." she said still looking in the sky
"You're right, I forgot about that. Do you want to know what I wished for?" he asked
"No, because than your wish won't come true." she said as she turned to face him.
"I don't need a star to make my dreams come true." he said slowly putting his hand to her face but Mackenzie pulled away.
"About that song?" she asked
"What do you want to know? What more is there to say? Yes, that song was for you from my heart and everything I said was true, Mackenzie." he said taking another step closer toward her.
"But if it was only from your heart, how do I know that tomorrow your head won't tell you something different? How do I know that you won't forget about everything you say here and pretend like nothing has happened? How can I be sure that you...you won't hurt me again? You've done it before, Justin, how do I know this time it will be different?" she asked taking a step further away from him.
Justin thought about the question for a minute and stepped toward her, " I don't know how to make you trust me. All I know is that my heart is telling me to go after you, I need you, Kenzie. I promise I will never hurt you. Those few days you were gone, I thought about you every moment. I've been falling for since the day I met you."
"You have?" she asked stepping toward him this time.
"Yes, I have. I didn't know it and I was a fool for not seeing it sooner. I wasted so many times fighting you when I could have been with you. I regret those days so much." He said putting his hand on her cheek once again, this time Mackenzie leaned into his touch. " I...I don't know how to explain it anymore than that, Mackenzie." Justin said leaning closer.
"You don't have to, I...I feel the same." Mackenzie closed her eyes and waited for the kiss that she knew was coming. Her breath caught her in her throat when she felt his soft lips touch hers. She pulled back and looked up at him, "What?" Justin asked softly
"I just wanted to tell you that my dream came true." Mackenzie said before leaning back up to him.
"Mine too." Justin said as they kissed once more.
