Chapter 14 Part 2
The next morning Mackenzie woke up to the sound of giggling in the next room. She groggily got out of bed and walked down stairs. "Jeez, my day off and I'm still awake by 8am." she said grabbing a bagel. She cursed herself for deciding to stay there overnight instead of driving back to her apartment. At least this way she could spend the day with Gabby and her friends. Her plan was to spend the day relaxing and shopping with the 3 of them and then to come home to get ready.
During the day she saw many people from her school and it surprised her when they asked her for an autograph. It didn't seem to make sense that people who knew her would want an autograph but she still gave it to them. She took the girls to the mall with the company of Jeremy and then to get their hair and nails done. She had never been the one to get pampered but today she was doing nothing but relaxing. She and Jenna had already picked out a dress a few weeks ago but Mackenzie was dreading what Justin would wear. She had seen him at some of the award shows and his outfits had been fine for an award show but this was just a high school prom. She had invited him on short notice so it was possible that he wasn't able to get anything too special but he was Justin Timberlake.
By 5:30pm Mackenzie had showered and was starting to get ready. "Let the process begin!" she said quietly when Samantha her hair and make up artist came in her sisters room.
"Hey Frizz." Mackenzie said smiling.
"Hey there, Kenz. It's time to make you beautiful." she said taking out her make-up supply.
"Thanks for coming over today." Mackenzie said sitting in the chair that was placed in front of a mirror.
"No problem, now stop talking so I can put this lipstick on."
About an hour and a half later the doorbell rang and Mackenzie practically jumped in anticipation. "Gabby, go downstairs and answer the door. Tell them I'm almost ready but come back up here and tell me what Justin's wearing. Go!" she said pushing her out the door.
"I don't know why you are so worried what that boy is wearing. He'd look fine in a garbage bag." Sam said walking over to the window.
"I just don't want any extra attention tonight. That?s all."
"Wow, I was right that boy does look fine in a trash bag!"
"Oh my gosh no way!" Mackenzie yelled as she ran to the window.
"Gotcha." Sam said, "They are already inside."
Gabby walked in her room with a serious expression on her face. When she saw Mackenzie's face drop and she smiled. "He looks so hott! I wish I was you!" she gushed.
"Ok are you ready." Sam asked
"I'm ready, Frizz." she said smiling.
"Stop calling me that! It wasn't my fault that I let that guy touch my hair! Never again!" Sam said laughing
Gabby walked down stairs and smiled when she saw a nervous expression on Justin's face. He was holding a small corsage with blue and white flowers on it. "She'll be down in a minute."
"Guys get with Justin so I can take his picture." Lynn Harless said smiling with pride.
"Mom, please you already took about a million. I think I'm regretting flying you up here."
"How come you don't mind when everyone else flashes camera's in your face but when I want one picture of my son who is about to go to his prom you give me a hard time?"
They got together one last time and took a picture as Mackenzie started walking down the steps with Jeremy.
"Are you ready, Ms. Hope?" Jeremy said holding his arm out to her.
"Who turned you into the butler?" she asked when she saw that he was wearing a tux.
"You don't like?" he said spinning around. "Nick and I thought we needed something that could keep us from standing out so much."
"Don't take this the wrong way, but you will always standout." she said wrapping her arm around his.
"Just call me Jeeves." He said with an English accent.
"Ok, Jeeves. Just don't use that accent ever again." she said laughing
She watched as Justin laughed at something Chris had said and in her opinion Justin never looked better. He was wearing a simple black tux that fit him perfectly and she wanted nothing more than to reach out and touch his hair to test the softness of them.
Justin looked up at her when she was halfway down the stairs and almost choked. He couldn't believe how beautiful she looked at that moment. She was wearing a light blue spaghetti strapped dress with small rhinestones that simmered when she moved. Her hair was pulled up in a French Twist with 2 curled pieces left down so the ringlets could fall on her face. He watched as she smiled and he could immediately tell that she was embarrassed having everyone stare at her.
"Mackenzie, wow! You look great." Joey said as he hugged her, "Right now I'm wishing I was Justin. Whew girl! It?s hot in here!" he laughed.
"Always the player, Joey. What would your girlfriend say if she was here?"
Before Joey could answer Mackenzie saw Lynn and Megan both looking at her with tears in their eyes. "Are you two ok?" she asked jokingly. "It's great to see you Lynn. Justin didn't tell me that you were coming up."
"It was a last minute thing." Lynn said as she hugged her, "You look wonderful, Mackenzie! Now get together with Justin so we can take pictures."
Lynn wanted everyone to walk outside so she could get some more scenery in the picture. Justin walked next to Mackenzie and smiled as he took her hand in his. "I'm speechless Mackenzie Leigh. You look beautiful."
Mackenzie almost cried when she heard his heartfelt words. He caused her world to spin just by saying those words. She forgot about everyone around them and didn't notice all the flashes that were surrounding them,  "You look wonderful too, Justin." she said
They both stopped when they were at the bottom of the steps and posed. "Are you going to take the picture?" Justin asked his mom when she just smiled at them
"I already got them." Lynn said with a smile on her face.
"You two are a beautiful couple." Megan said
As soon as those words were said Justin dropped Mackenzie?s hand and she quickly folded her arms.
They both said goodbye to everyone and got into the Limo that was wait for them. As Justin sat inside he looked over at Mackenzie who was twirling her finger around a piece of hair. It was at that moment that he realized what a mistake it had been for him to shut her out the way he did. He wasted so much time with her just pushing her away from him. Things were going to change between them and he was going to be the one causing it.
