Undying Devotion Chapter 2
The sunlight was fading as Erika jumped out of the car, and rushed to the doors. She could hear Justin calling to her from behind, but paid no attention. Pushing through the revolving doors, she hurried to a small window where an older woman was
working. She was reading, and looked annoyed as Erika tapped on the window. Peeking up over the rim of her glasses, she glared at Erika, and then said,
"Can I HELP you?"
"YES, where can I find my parents? They were in a car accident, and their names are Cindy and Bill.."
"Oh, sweetie, I know where they are." she interrupted, picking up her phone.
Erika could hear her quietly speaking for a moment, and then she hung up and returned her attention to Erika.
"A nurse will show you where to go, she's on her way."
She noticed the elderly woman looking at her sadly, before she walked away from the window. Turning around, she almost collided with Justin, who was breathing heavily.
"Where do we go?" he asked quickly.
Just then a nurse came around the corner, and advised them to follow her. Stepping off the elevator, the nurse started to point at the waiting room ahead, but Erika had already
spotted JC's parents, Roy and Karen, talking to a doctor. Roy had his arm around Karen's waist, and Karen was wiping tears from her face.
"I'm very sorry." was all Erika heard the doctor say, as he turned away from them.
"WHAT?! What's wrong? Where are they? I want to see my mom and dad!" Erika shouted, but she already knew.
They were dead. JC stood up quickly from his seat, and came over to Erika, and pulled her close to him.
"They're gone baby, I'm so sorry." he whispered, choking on his own tears. The doctor whirled around, just as Erika tore away from JC's grip.
"Let me see them. I have to say goodbye!" she screamed.
"I'm sorry, I can't allow that, you shouldn't see them right now." the doctor told her gently.
Erika became angry, and started to push past him. She felt two strong arms take hold of
her gently, and pull her around. It was JC and he pulled her against his body, and placed a hand under her chin.
Pulling her face up to force her to look him in the eye, he pleaded "Baby, you can't. I'm so sorry."
Erika fought to release his grasp, but he was too strong. Finally, her weak body collapsed against his chest. She fell apart, tears falling uncontrollably, as she sobbed violently. He supported her weight, rubbing her back as she cried. Then he lifted her up, with one arm under her back, the other under her legs, and carried her out of the hospital.
