Undying Devotion Chapter 13

Looking into those beautiful big blue eyes, it tore Erika's heart to pieces, to see them filled with tears. JC was always the strong one, her comfort, and the one who was there to pull her out when she needed it. And now he was the one in need of her help.

"What is it, baby?" she asked, almost pleading.

He shook his head, casting his eyes down to the ground, ashamed to let her see his tears. Erika pulled his chin up and looked into his eyes, and repeated her question.

"Nothing," he answered finally, "I was just thinking."

He stopped, and she waited patiently for him to continue.
"I love you SO much, Erika, and I've been so scared."
"Why?" she asked him gently, stroking his dark hair with her fingers.
"Ever since...since it happened, you've just been getting further and further away from me. I love you so much, and I thought I was going to lose you. Do you understand what that would do to me? Nothing would matter anymore. NOTHING. It's been tearing me up, for the past few weeks. I could barely eat or sleep, because all I could do was think about YOU, and try to think of some way, ANY way, that I could help you. I've never experienced so much pain. You're the one and ONLY person who could ever bring that much agony on me. But you're also the person who can make me happier than anyone else can. You have so much influence on my life. More than you realize. I love you more than anything." As JC finished this confession, he broke down, collapsing into Erika's warm embrace.

She looked down with her beautiful gray eyes, and let him lay his head down in her lap. It hurt her so bad, to see the pain she'd been causing him, as the tears flowed, and she gently ran her fingers through his soft hair, and tried to console him.

"JC, I'm SO sorry. I didn't realize I was hurting you so much. I never meant to push you away. But I was so scared too, because I knew I was doing it, I just didn't know how to stop. I love you too, and I think that's what scared me, is the depth of my love for you. When I lost my parents, I realized you were all I had left, and if I lost you too, there'd be nothing left for me. I know that sounds stupid, because that's all the more reason NOT to push you away, but I can't explain why I acted the way I did. Thank you so much for staying with me baby, I need you so much, even though it probably didn't seem like it. I'm so sorry." she said, through her own tears.

JC sat up, and threw his arms around her. Finally, he felt like he had his girl back. His sweet, happy-go-lucky, beautiful Erika. She returned the hug, and they stayed there, just hugging, and crying happily on each other's shoulders.
