Undying Devotion Chapter 11

Wiping the sleep from her eyes, Erika groggily rolled out of bed, tired, but thankful that she'd slept AT ALL. Little did she know, JC had, just like her, spent half the night awake, crying and being tormented by the same pointless fears that had been relentlessly torturing her. The fear that they would lose the person they loved most in the world.
Each other. Erika was slowly getting ready for work, when she decided to finally take a day off. She'd call in sick, besides, she'd been doing nothing but work, since her parent's death. She needed a break, and feeling as upset as she did, she'd get nothing done if she went, anyway. After calling into work, she crawled back into bed, and tried to sort out all of her thoughts. JC had acted so strange as he drove her home the night before, and it scared her. What if he'd had enough of her hiding her feelings from him? What if he couldn't handle her pain and anger anymore? He always had been the kind of person who wanted others to be honest with him, and open up to him. And usually, she'd been happy to do just that. But not now. And even she wasn't sure why. But she knew she was scared of losing him. That she couldn't live without him, at least not a fulfilling life.

"So baby come back to me, and I'll love you endlessly..." JC sang, pouring his heart and soul into every word. He was in the studio, recording one of the songs for the new album. He closed his eyes, and gave it everything, tears pouring, as he thought of Erika, and how much agony she was unknowingly causing him. Justin, Joey, Chris, and Lance looked at him, alarmed, but just let him go at it. Whatever was wrong, was also causing him to sing beautifully, and they didn't want to stop him now. So they just joined in when he reached the chorus, and were inspired to sing their best. As the final lyrics from the song, poured smoothly off of JC's tongue, and the last soft notes tapered off into silence, he stood up without a word, and walked out of the studio.

"What the HECK was that?" Chris squeaked, looking questioningly at the other guys.
Joey looked over, wide-eyed. "I have NO idea, but that song's sure gonna sound awesome!"

Stepping out onto the porch, Erika right away wished she'd put on her jacket, as the cold air sent shivers down her spine. The mailman drove off down the street, and Erika quickly walked over to the mailbox. She opened it, and removed all of the mail. Then she turned and walked back toward the front door, sorting through the bills and letters, cringing every time she saw something addressed to her mom or dad.
As she opened the door, she looked at the last envelope, and saw her name, written in what looked like her mother's handwriting. There was no return address, so she sat down at the table, and tore it open. Inside was a letter, and at the bottom, it was signed, "Love, mom and dad". She gasped, and dropped the letter on the table. She stared at it quietly for a moment, and then became angry. Her mom and dad were DEAD, and who the hell would play such a cruel joke. She stood up in a rage, and for the first time, she let all of her anger out. She ripped up the envelope the letter had been in, and threw it in the trash. Nearby, she saw an empty glass vase on the table. Grabbing it, she threw it down, where it crashed into thousands of pieces on the floor. Bursting into tears, she collapsed into a heap on the floor, and cried.
