Undying Devotion Chapter 1

Erika smiled, as she looked down at the dozen red and white roses that had just been delivered to her at work. She already knew who they were from, as she opened the card attached, and began to read.

"Hi sweetie,
I hope you had a great day, and I can't wait to see you at the party.
Love you, JC."

She had been dating him for over 2 years, but had known him her whole life, because their families were very close. Because they'd known eachother for so long, JC knew she loved him for HIM, not because of Nsync. They were madly in love with each other, and he was always doing sweet things like this for no reason, being the romantic person he was. Suddenly, a voice jerked Erika out of herdaydream.

"I'm heading out, Erika, but I'll see you on Monday."
She looked up to see Sarah waving goodbye. Sarah was a good friend of hers, who worked with her.
"Okay, bye!" she said cheerfully, and pulled herself out of the chair she was sitting in.

It was about time for her to go, too. Placing her roses gently in the passenger seat, Erika backed out of the parking lot, thinking excitedly about the party. The Chasez family was throwing a Welcome Home party for her parents, who had been in Hawaii for 2 weeks. It was kind of a second honeymoon for them, as they had been married for 30 years. Erika couldn't wait to get home to see them, not to mention JC. As she turned the corner, and started to pull up in front of the Chasez house, she realized there weren't as many cars there, as she had expected. In fact there was only one, Justin's. As she stepped out of her car, she looked up to see him sitting on the porch swing, looking at her mornfully.

"Justin, where is everyone?" she inquired of him.

Justin was her best, and closest friend, after JC, and she'd known him for a long time, too. He looked down at his feet, and ran his fingers nervously through his curly, blonde hair. Erika got a bad feeling, right away, and slowly sat down next to him. Justin gazed sadly into her sparkling gray eyes, and slid his hands over hers.

"Erika, babe, they're at the hospital. Your parents got in an accident on the way here. A drunk driver hit them."

Erika sucked in a breath, and covered her mouth with her hands. She had never felt a more horrible, scary feeling in her life.

"Are they okay?" she finally managed to choke out.
Justin hugged her tightly to him, gently stroking her long, dark hair.
"I don't know, sweetie, they're in Intensive Care right now."

She sobbed uncontrollably on Justin's shoulder, and he just rocked her gently. Suddenly she jerked away from him.
"We have to get to the hospital." she shouted, and started to run for her car. "ERIKA! I'll take you, you're in no shape to drive!" Justin yelled after her.

They got in, and Justin took off toward the hospital. He looked over at Erika, and when he saw the fear in her eyes, he didn't know what to do. He loved her with all his heart, and couldn't stand to see her in pain. He reached over and took her hand, gently squeezing it, as he drove.
