Crying On The Inside Chapter 16
When Michelle left Lance's house she decided to call
JC to see what was going on. She dialed his cell phone
and he picked up after 3 rings.
"Hey. What's up?" Michelle said. She heard faint
female laughter in the background.
"Hey," JC said breathlessly.
"Where are you?" she asked. Something didn't seem
right.
"Uh...I'm...at Joey's house," he said stuttering.
"Oh? Am I missing the fun?" she asked referring
to the female laughter. It didn't sound like Heather
or
Brianna.
"No. I'm about to leave actually," he said. She
heard him whisper stop to someone.
"Okay. I'll see you tommorrow then," she said.
"Okay. Yeah," he said and they ended the call.
When she got home she thought about what happened. Why
didn't he just tell her he was going to Joey's house?
And who was the female that was laughing? Something
sure was funny. Maybe she really needed to pay
attention to what was going on. She was so wrapped up
in Justin that she felt she was missing something.
"You sure have been quiet these days. You haven't
been hanging out. Something wrong?" Brianna asked her
the next day in school.
They were at the lockers
waiting for the guys. Michelle was staring at Justin
and he stared back. Both Brianna and Heather noticed.
"What the hell is that all about?" Heather asked
Michelle turning her towards her. Michelle came out of
her trance and realized they were talking to her.
"What?" she asked.
"Why are you two staring at each other? Who is
he?" Heather asked annoyed.
"No one. He's just a friend," Michelle said.
"Well you better get it together. If JC found out
about your new friend you know what will happen,"
Heather said hotly.
Michelle looked up at her sharply.
Heather had that look on her face. Her blue eyes had
that icy glare. Michelle feared she would tell and
knowing her friend she just might. But she didn't say
anything. She just walked away not even waiting for
JC.
She heard then talking behind her but she kept going.
Michelle sat quietly in the lunchroom. She got angry
stares from Heather occasionaly. She saw Justin leave
and she got up to leave not long after.
"Your friends don't like me very much do they?"
he asked her when they were in the hallway.
"It's sort of complicated. I'm afraid my friend
will say something and I'm a little scared," she said.
"Why are you scared? Scared of what?" he asked.
Diana's words came back to him about JC and his
friends.
"That something will happen to you," she said
looking into his eyes. Justin saw the fear and then
the bell rang. He didn't want to leave until he heard
her friends coming down the hall. He left and walked
by them. Heather had a smirk on her face. He just kept
walking.
After school, they decided on what to do.
"I'm finally going to pick you up tonight right?"
JC asked Michelle. She didn't know what to say again
so she just nodded her head. "Well we have our plans,"
JC said happily. He grabbed Michelle by her waist and
kissed her cheek.
"Well we're going to the diner later. Maybe we'll
see ya there," Joey said. Michelle nodded again. The
guys left and the girls stayed.
"Finally girl! Just get it over with and you'll
feel so much better," Brianna said.
"Yeah I guess so," she said unenthusiatically.
"We'll see you later," Heather said and they
left. Michelle was alone. She got inside her car and
started to cry.
