THERAPEUTIC GOODS ADMINISTRATION

With Prosthetists in NSW now manufacturing interim prostheses for lower limb amputees rather than having Physiotherapists manufacture temporary prostheses, the impact of the Therapeutic Goods Administration regulations concerning prosthetics as medical devices has less of a direct impact on the practices of Physiotherapists. Compliance by Physiotherapists as manufacturers of temporary prostheses is no longer a major issue, however, some documentation had been developed prior to the commencement of the Interim programmes, to help Physiotherapists prove compliant.
