| Article VIII - Election Code Section 1.0 - The Election Code 1.1 The purpose of the Election Board shall be to conduct all elections. 1.2 The Election Board shall consist of the following eight members: 1.2.1 One Senator-At-Large and one Class Senator both recommended by the Internal Affairs Commissioner, appointed by the President, and approved by the Senate shall serve as Co-Chairmen of the Committee. 1.2.2 Three Senators appointed at the beginning of each semester by the President and approved by the Senate. 1.2.3 Three additional students appointed at beginning of each semester by the President and approved by the Senate. 1.2.4 The Vice-President will assist the Election Committee Chairman with duties and oversee all elections in which the Vice-President is not a candidate. 1.2.5 The President has the power to expand the Election Committee if he/she deems necessary with the approval of the Senate. 1.3 Eligibility. 1.3.1 All Election Committee members shall be full-time students at Northwestern State University. 1.3.2 All Election Committee members must be in good standing with the University. 1.3.3 Any member of the Election Committee who wishes to run in an election during their term cannot serve on the Election Committee for that election. 1.3.4 The President has the power to expand the Election Committee if he or she deems necessary with approval of the Senate. 1.4 - Duties 1.4.1 The duties of the Election Committee shall be to assume all responsibilities necessary for the expeditious and efficient administration of student elections. These duties include: 1.4.1.1 Contacting the State of Louisiana Representative for use of the polling machines at the appropriate times. 1.4.1.2 Publicizing the election and voting procedure as established by the Senate. 1.4.1.3 Establishing the polling places. 1.4.1.4 Operation of the polls with the assistance of the SGA members not running in the election. 1.4.1.5 Counting and validating the ballots and announcing the results. 1.4.1.6 The Election Committee shall have primary jurisdiction in all cases involving the observance and execution of the code. 1.4.1.7 Penalizing those who violate the Election Code. 1.4.1.8 Offering a meeting planned and hosted by the Election Board before each election in which the rules of the election are explained to all candidates. 1.4.1.9 Any other duties concerning the administration of the election process consistent with this Code and the Constitution of the SGA and its By-laws. 1.4.2 The Election Board shall have the power to enforce this Election Code as it deems necessary with the approval of the Senate. 1.5 - Regulations 1.5.1 All questions before the Election Committee shall be decided by a majority vote. 1.5.2 Simple majority of Committee members shall constitute a quorum. 1.5.3 No member may be involuntarily removed except as provided for in Article VII, Impeachment and Removal, in the SGA Constitution.
