Welcome to the online newsletter of the Sociology Department at the New
School's Graduate Faculty for Political and Social Science. Appearing once a
semester, this newsletter will be reporting on developments, innovations and
events within the Sociology department- focusing, in particular, on the
interests and achievements of its members; faculty, students and alumni. It
is intended as a partial record of the academic pursuits, intellectual
debates and indeed social actions with which sociologists here at the New
School's Graduate Faculty of Political And Social Science are engaged, as
well as a space of acknowledgement for the many publications, awards and
other successes of those within that community.
This is a real opportunity for members and former members of the department
to let each other know what they are working on, what they have done, what
issues, actions or debates they are involved with and what intellectual
concerns they are engaged with beyond the classroom.
This is our first issue (or prototype!) - however we hope in future issues
to expand both in space and scope, including more comprehensive notice of
recent achievements of faculty, students and alumni. Therefore, if you
publish an article, speak at a conference, receive an award, or are involved
in any other successful or interesting sociological project and you would
like to be mentioned in an upcoming issue - please do contact us.
