This section deals with the
various available force powers. Force powers in Jedi Knight fall into three
categories. Neutral, Light, and Dark paths. Neutral force powers are
available to any apprentice jedi. As you progress in the ways of the force,
you must choose your path. For a short while, both dark and light force
powers are available to you. After that, you will become dedicated towards
one path or the other, and will only have access to force powers of that
path and the neutral force powers.
The strength of a given force power is based on the number of force stars
that have been invested. For each force power, this increases the duration,
the range, or the potency of the given power.

To the right is a
screen shot at the beginning of the single player game. The character is
uninitiated. At the top of the screen is the characters name and rank. In
the middle are the available force powers, which in this case are none, and
at the bottom would be listed the number of available force stars and the
current alignment of the character as indicated by the bar. |
| |
| |
 |
|
To the right is a
screen shot at the end of the game. The character is one force star short
and didn't remain true to the light path so has no force power "protection".
Note the bar at the bottom is all the way to the left to indicate the
alignment with the light path. |

Below are a listing of the force
powers. Their strengths and ways to counter each, if available. Later I will
add information on the cost to use each, the damage they inflict, etc. I
want to thank Hiss for checking a
few things out and making a couple of corrections to my counters. They
should be pretty complete now. If you find anything else out about the force
powers that is not listed here or is not correct, please contact me. Thanks.
Neutral Force Powers |

 |
|
Jump
Force power "jump" is a very useful power. When combined with force power
"speed", you can jump both further and higher then normally. Often force
power "jump" is used to reach areas that you would not be able to normally.
Be careful, if you jump or fall too far, you will take damage. A good tactic
is to jump over your opponent with the force power and gain the higher
ground. It is difficult to defend yourself if you can't find your opponent.
|
| |
| |
 |
|
Speed
Force power "speed" is another useful power. When combined with force power
"jump", you can jump both further and higher then normally. Force power
speed allows you to travel through the level quicker. The force power allows
you to run over mines without taking damage from the blast, and the force
power even enables you to shoot your weapons a little faster. This force
power is really useful if you are low on health. Using this force power will
help you escape your enemies grasp. Remember that in multiplayer games, most
offensive powers require the jedi to lock onto their intended target. Make
it as difficult for them as possible by using force power "speed".
|
| |
| |
 |
|
Pull
Force power "pull" is perhaps the most useful neutral power. Using force
power "pull", you can pull weapons from the hands of your enemies with the
exception of lightsabres, and you can pull the various items scattered
around the level to you. If you find your weapons being pulled from you in
combat, use this force power to pull the weapons back to you and continue
your assault. Remember that Jedi's who have force power's "protection" and
"deadly sight" in multiplayer will not have neutral force powers including
force power "pull" so quickly strip the players of all their weapons except
the sabre. Then play the waiting game and defeat them. Since it is easy to
pull weapons from your opponents, it is best to run most of level with sabre,
and switch weapons when you need them. You can counter force power "pull" by
using force power "absorb" or force power "blinding". |
| |
| |
 |
|
Sight
Force power "sight" is perhaps the most under used neutral force power.
Which is a shame. This force power counters two light force powers,
"blinding" and "persuasion". If you have the force power activated before
some one attempts to blind you, you will suffer no ill effects. If you know
there is a jedi using force power "persuasion" in the area, using force
power "sight" will allow you to see them. Another aspect of force power
"sight" is that when you have the map overlay, you will see all items and
the location of all players. This is useful if you want to know if a jedi is
in the next room behind the door. You will also be able to tell what
direction they are facing. |
| |
| |
 |
|
Healing
Force power "healing" is perhaps the most valuable light force power. Though
it uses alot of mana, the force power will allow you to quickly recuperate.
Remember that each multiplayer level only has healing packs and bacta tanks
in a few locations, so if your opponent knows that you need health, they
know where you have to go. It is best to use bacta tanks until you run out
before using force power "healing" unless you know that you will find a mana
powerup soon, the drain can severely hurt you if you are in the middle of
battle. |
| |
| |
 |
|
Persuasion
Force power "persuasion" is an over used power that is easily countered.
Using force power "sight" will allow you to see someone using force power "persusasion".
The force power allows you to seem invisible other then a light blue field
that surrounds your body. Many people use this force power in one on one
combat which is silly, you are just wasting your mana, since it can be
easily countered. The force power is best used if you are trying to avoid
combat or if you are sniping. |
| |
| |
 |
|
Blinding
Force power "blinding" is an underused light force power. If you use force
power "blinding", you can counter four force powers "pull", "grip", "throw"
and "deadly sight". Each force power requires line of sight and will be
cut-off or won't work in the first place if you use this force power. The
force power is also useful in one on one combat. At high level, if your
opponent doesn't have force power "sight" enabled, they won't be able to see
a thing for about 30 seconds. This makes them a sitting duck for powerful
weapons, or even sabre damage. |
| |
| |
 |
|
Absorb
Force power "absorb" is the most powerful force power for a Light Jedi Lord
who has not sacrificed all neutral force powers to attain force power
"protection". The force power allows you to take no damage from all force
powers other then force power "throw". When someone attempts to use a force
power on someone using force power "absorb" the mana that is used will be
added to the person using force power "absorb"'s mana total. This force
power is one of the best counters, second only to force power "protection".
With the exception of force power "throw", you are temporarily protected
from other force powers. Though force power "grip" will still immobilize you
in place. |
| |
| |
 |
|
Protection
Force power "protection" is the most complained about light force power by
those that don't have it. The force power protects you from weapon damage
and from most force powers. The only exceptions are force powers "throw",
"pull", and "blinding". The force power drains all your mana and lasts for
about 30 secs to a minute. To get force power "protection" you must select
only light force powers for a multiplayer game, or remain true to your path
in the single player game. To remain true, you must assign all force stars
to light and neutral force powers only. The best way to beat someone using
force power "protection" is to strip them of all their weapons and keep them
from getting to a mana powerup. When the protection runs out, strike at them
with your most powerful force powers or weapons. |
| |
| |
 |
|
Throw
Force power "throw" is perhaps the most under used dark force power. The
force power can't be countered by anything except blinding. The force power
uses little mana, and can be used repeatedly against a target. The force
power is extremely useful from a sniping position since it doesn't indicate
your location. You can also use the force power to drive people off ledges
if the objects being thrown are coming from the right direction. The only
limitation of the force power is that you require specific objects to throw.
If they are unavailable, the force power is useless. |
| |
| |
 |
|
Grip
Force power "grip" is definitely the most complained about dark force power.
With force power "grip" you will immobilize your opponent so they can't
move, just turn and you will inflict damage. The force power uses little
mana, and it can be used against opponents using force power "absorb". Your
opponent won't take any damage if they are using force power "absorb", but
they will be immobilized, so you can switch to another weapon or prevent
them from running away. This force power can be countered with force power
"blinding", "protection", and damage can be countered with force powers
"absorb". |
| |
| |
 |
|
Lightning Bolts
Force power "lightning bolts" is not a very useful force power unless you
are in close combat. The force power has limited range and is difficult to
aim. The force power will function in water, which doesn't make alot of
sense. In the water, this force power is downright deadly in tight recesses
and tunnels. The force power is easily countered with force power "absorb"
or "protection". Force power "blinding" has no effect on force power
"lightning bolts" itself, but it makes the force power all but impossible to
aim. |
| |
| |
 |
|
Destruction
Force power "destruction" is the downright nasty. The force power uses alot
of mana, but in close range, it is almost impossible to survive. The force
power inflicts alot of damage, especially when combined in an attack with
another weapon. The force power is easily countered with force power
"absorb" or "protection". Force power "blinding" has no effect on force
power "destruction" itself, but it makes the force power all but impossible
to aim. |
| |
| |
 |
|
Deadly Sight
Force power "deadly sight" is a very dangerous force power. Though it is
somewhat limited by range of sight, the force power inflicts alot of damage
on a number of targets at the same time. The force power drains alot of mana
and is best used in one on one combat, or especially from a sniper position.
To get force power "deadly sight" you must select only dark force powers for
a multiplayer game, or remain true to your path in the single player game.
To remain true, you must assign all force stars to dark and neutral force
powers only. The force power is easily countered with force power "absorb",
"blinding" or "protection". |
