The United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps (USNSCC) is an extra curricular program, for motivated young men and women between the ages of 11-17, with units stationed nation wide and at U.S. facilities overseas. It is chartered by Congress and operates under Naval and Coast Guard Operations Instructions. These instructions authorize cadets to train with active duty units so long as that training does not interfere with the unit's mission.

Sea Cadets are from 14 years of age to thier graduation from high school. They study Navy manuals, train to achieve rate promotions, and if they stay in the program long enough and attain the rank of Seaman or higher are allowed to enlist in the service at an advanced pay grade. It can be a big assist for those seeking nominations to the armed forces military, or merchant marine academies or tring to qualify for NROTC scholarships.

League Cadets are from 11 to 13 years old. They train along side the sea cadets but study from training manuals specifically designed for them.
