About NSAI St Louis!
The NSAI St. Louis Regional workshop is held on the 2nd Monday of the month at the St. Louis County Library, Cliff Cave Branch, located at 5430 Telegraph Rd, 1.2 miles South of Highway 270 in South County from 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm.
One of the workshop coordinators, Donna Opfer or Randy Wilhelm, conducts the meeting. Members are updated on current NSAI events and participants share what's happening in their songwriting careers.
Then Donna or Randy usually present a lesson on some aspect of songwriting. Many of the lessons are provided by the Nashville office. Topics range anywhere from creative writing, song format, royalties, copyrighting songs and networking to just about any related topic in the music business.
About 2 hours is then devoted to listening to the members songs (live or on tape/CD) and providing suggestions which may help the song to be more commercial. Members can specify what kind of help they'd like the
listeners to provide. The songwriter provides lyric sheets to each member to facilitate the process.
Sometimes guest industry speakers attend the meetings in place of the songwriting lesson. The St. Louis NSAI coordinators also arrange to have songwriting workshops with Nashville pro writers in addition to the
monthly meetings.
Guests are welcome to attend one meeting without becoming a member. This workshop is a wonderful networking opportunity - to find co-writers that compliment the members' songwriting skills and talented musicians and singers.
