History:
The new rochelle science olympiad was founded in 1996 by Mr. John Elia, a Physics teacher at New Rochelle High School. In pursual of excellence and innovation in the sciences, the club progressed far under his supervision, and in the year 2003, won state level qualifications for the first time in history. Under its new advisorship, Mr. Byrne and Mr Ghetta, the club continues to grow with a promise of further achievment in the future.

How it works: Every year, schools throughout the country host a science olympiad club, where students work on several projects or events, involving both theoretical/academic and practical applications. These events cover numerous aspects of Sciences including biology, chemistry, physics, geology, etc. In spring clubs around the country, representing their schools, compete in these events. Competetions are held on regional, state and national levels, with the top three schools, at each level moving to the next higher one. We the, New Rochelle High School Science Olympiad meet in room 1113-physics department. All students at NRHS are welcome to drop by after school around 3:15 to learn more.

For anyone who takes interest in science, the Science Olympiad Club can be a most exciting experience. Its the perfect combination of science, teamwork and fun.
