SHADOW IN THE DARKNESS
I began work on the latest draft in January 2001, and completed it in July 2001, a feat indeed, considering I was also working on my degree! For me, this book is my favourite of the novels I have written so far, and it gives me, and the reader a chance to delave further into the world I have created without having to come to any major resoloution. (there are three books after this to go!)
My main aim for this book was to build on the plot lines I have created in Ellerigan Quest, and develop the characters. That for me, was what made this book so enjoyable to write. There was no significant set up to write, in stead I was able to concentrate on really developing the characters who survived the chaos of the first book. Despite what you might think of any work of mine I have written. It is not the battles and magic that I enjoy writing best, it's the characters, and hence this book is very character driven. It's about them coming to terms with what has happened and growing stronger.
Secondly, my aim for this book was to develop the hints I had made towards the main threat of the saga, the Goblingod. By the end of this book, some questions are answered, enough I hope to hook the reader into continuing to read the Goblingod Saga without giving too much away, without resolving too much.
There's not much more I can say about this book. A lot of the content was brand new, like the Cordrane story in the first book, stuff I had wanted to add now I was expanding the Goblingod Saga from three to four, and then eventually to five books, and I made some significant changes to my earlier drafts to give some characters more plot, more life, all of which I hope makes Shadow In the Darkness a satisfying read.
