ANTIGONE This is the play I recently directed on the 20th & 21st February, which was also entered for the National Student Drama Festival 2002. A Greek tradegy given a modern twist and set in Las Vegas with gangsters. It was stressful, being the first play I directed, but great fun too! Here's some of my selected photos from the performance. I talk about it more on my Drama Page. Enjoy!
The girls! From left to right, Sara as Eurydice, Ruth as Ismene and Laura as Antigone herself.
And the gangsters!Carl takes centre stage as the mob boss Creon, Tom as the Old Man sits at his side with advice, Dom and Tim as the two gangsters watch on, completely under Creon's power.
No! There was no Reservoir Dogs take anywhere in the play. Dom and Patrick just thought they'd get into role with a little bit of playful violence. Thank God they weren't real guns.
Caroline did a great job with the lights and sound (here she doesn't look bewildered at all...)
Antigone (Laura) and Ismene (Ruth) share a sisterly moment early on in the play. (below)
Antigone is brought in before Creon, (above) the other gangsters watching over her. Fireworks are about to explode (see next page)
