About Me

I was born in Edinburgh, but spent most of my childhood in Fife. I came back to Edinburgh to study, graduating in 1999 with an MPhys in Computational Physics. A brief flirtation away from Edinburgh reminded me how much I loved the city and the many friends I'd made during my student years.

I started working at the University, first as a consultant helping transfer technology developed in the University to other departments, companies and organisations and as a lecturer and project supervisor in novel computing. Lately, I have developed my career into project management and I look after a number of projects with partners from across the world.

When I came to Edinburgh University, I was amazed at the number of different things I could do. In particular, I joined far too many societies, eventually winding up as President of the Film Society. I've had a lot of great experiences with the film society ever since, and if you've ever been to a screening run in the university I'm likely to have helped out.

Among the many societies I've had the pleasure of working with or participating in over the years are: African & Arabic Dance Society, Amnesty International, Anime and Animation Society, Asian Friends, Baha'i Society, Ballroom Dancing Society, BLOGS, Catholic Students' Union, Childrens Holiday Venture, Chill Out Society, ChocSoc, Christian Union, Create Society, ESCA, Footlights, Fresh Air, Games Society, GEAS, IndieSoc, Juggling Soc, EMPS, New Scotland Country Dance, Nightline, Para Los Ninos, People + Planet, Perfidous Albion, PhotoSoc, FizzSoc, PokerSoc, Red Cross, EDGAR, Savoy Opera Group, SciFi, SIS, Stop Aids, Student Newspaper, Swing Dance, EUTC, Tibet Society, EUTIC and of course the Film Society.
