We attend Mass each
week at St. Joseph's, just two blocks past Van Den Berg Learning
Center. Some of us are Extraordinary Ministers of the Holy
Communion. (A bit of a mouthful, but it means we get to
distribute Holy Communion at Mass.)

Weekly Meetings
"Again, I say to you,
if two of you agree on earth about anything for which they are to pray,
it shall be granted to them by my heavenly Father. For where two or
three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of
them." Mathew 18:19-20
We meet for an hour
each week to eat, pray, plan events and activities, sing, study the
faith, and/or listen to guest speakers. Come for a relaxing
break from the hectic college life, some good pizza, and hey, it doesn't hurt to pray
for good grades on our midterms!
Annual Mission Trip
"He said to them, 'Go
into the whole world and proclaim the Gospel to every creature.'" Mark
16:15
In 2004 we began our
annual mission to spread the Gospel message throughout the
world. We've been to the Dominican Republic, Montana, and Mexico.
We help out in poor areas by doing light maintenance/building and
painting.
RCIA
Sub 316
RCIA stands for the
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. Say what? This translates to
preparation for becoming a member of the Catholic Church and receiving
the Sacraments. Do you feel God calling you to the Catholic Church?
Were you baptized, but missed out on First Holy Communion and
Confirmation? Then this is the place for you. Call Hank at 257-3024 or
email: [email protected]
Retreats
Each fall we try to go
on a weekend retreat. Sometimes we all need to get away and make
a conscious effort to let God into our lives more.
Taize Prayer First Wednesday of
every month, 6:30-9:00 Once a month some of us
go to the Taize Prayer service at Mount St. Alphonsus. It's
contemplative and candlelit with sung chants that everyone can sing
along with.
Service Projects
Some of our regular service
projects include raking leaves for St. John Bosco's Boys Foster Home,
participating in the Walk for Hunger, and picking apples to give to the
local food pantry.
EMHC Training EMHC: Extraordinary
Minister of Holy Communion. Fr. Maurice trains us to be EMHCs, to
assist in distributing the Body and Blood of Christ at Mass. We
generally serve at one Mass a month. I'd just like to say that being
able to participate in Mass this way, to administer the Body Blood Soul
and Divinity of Our Lord Jesus Christ is amazing.
Interfaith
Thanksgiving Dinner Each year all the
college's faith groups gather to eat good food, share scripture and
song. With all the fighting between religious groups throughout the
world it's wonderful to see that it doesn't have to be that way.
Tabling For those of you who
are thinking that tabling isn't a word, here at the college it means
sitting at a table and telling the passersby about whatever
organization you're in. Each year we table at the beginning of the
semester and at Open House.
Mohonk
Mountain Hike Each fall we hike up
the nearby mountain and see a breathtaking view. We usually take
the lemon squeeze trail. A little bit of climbing over rocks and
at the end you get...well, squeezed.
BBQ @ Hanks BBQ at Hanks! Your home
away from home! Old fashioned burgers and hot dogs! Sausage that's to
die for! Come on down for a good time! Each year we have about
three Sunday dinners at Hank's house (beginning of school, Christmas,
end of the year).
