HYPERTEXT MARKUP LANGUAGE

Computers are not sophisticated enough to understand human languages therefore we must communicate with them using special computer languages. Various languages are used e.g. machine, programming and fourth-generation languages. HTML is the software language invented by Tim Berners-Lee in 1989 which enabled the formation of the World Wide Web. The WWW is an internet-based hypermedia initiative which can share information with anyone in the world who has access to a computer connected to the Internet.

HTML defines the structure and layout of a Web document using a variety of tags and attributes. If you wish to see for yourself what the written programming language looks like click "View" on the toolbar, then click "Source". You will see the Web page document as it was written with all the tags and attributes clearly shown in a language that the computer understands. The following Websites give some very helpful information about HTML.
