Michigan State Parks map search Michigan State Parks General Camping Information Link Michigan State Park Campgrounds: Local: Sugarloaf Lake Campground at Waterloo State Park, Chelsea, Michigan: This campground is at the same state park that we went to last time but the beach is at the campground and for campers only. We can get lakefront campsites. Portage Lake Campground at Waterloo State Park, Chelsea, Michigan: This is the campground that we went to on our first trip. The beach was very far away from the campground and very crowded. Although if we reserved campsites on the outside edges we would not feel so crowded. Bruin Lake Campground, Pinckney Recreation Area, Pinckney, Michigan: There is a beach at the campground but none are lakefront. Bishop Lake Campground, Brighton Recreation Area, Howell, Michigan: This is the only modern campground at this state park. There is a beach but you have to walk to it and it is open to the public. Seven Lakes State Park, Holly, Michigan: There is a beach at the campground. Farther away from our area: Port Crescent State Park, Port Crescent, Michigan: This park is at the tip of the thumb and directly on Lake Huron. The campground is right on Lake Huron. Some sites are lake view sites. It is in a town that has hotels for Mom and Mark. Gary and I along with Jim and Deanna camped near here in August. This campground is beautiful and the campsites that we think that we should reserve are far enough away from other campsites that we would not feel cramped or feel like our large group would be disturbing other campers. Van Buren State Park, South Haven, Michigan: This park is on Lake Michigan. The beach is 400-500 feet from the campground trail head. Grand Haven State Park, Grand Haven, Michigan: This campground is directly on the beach of Lake Michigan. Metamora-Hadley Recreation Area, Metamora, Michigan: This campground is on a lake but the beach is not at the campground. Some of the site were right on the lake so the guys could fish near the campsites. |
