October 23, 2001

It is not surprising these days when a band parts ways with a member, or members. For some, this does not happen until after they have had a touch of success, and for others, it happens very quickly. For Nowadays, it has happened a couple times already. This however has helped build a strong foundation for the Pop-punk band from Detroit. We feel as if we have finally found the right ingredients for success! Forming in the fall of 2000, and playing shows very soon there after, Nowadays built a name for themselves in the Detroit music scene. using their "play anytime, anywhere" motto, Nowadays played many shows in their 1st 5 months of existance. The lineup in February, 2001 was:

Nathan Mazur (guitar/vocals)
Dan Mazur (Guitar/Vocals)
Jamie (bass)
Patrick Swisher (drums)

This is where the band started to change. Jamie had never really fit into the bands style of music. It wasn't the kind of music he listened to at all, and he just wasn't working out. The decision was made to part ways with Jamie, not only for the fact that he wasn't fitting in, but also for the reason that a new bass player was interested in joining. His name was Randy, and Nate had known him for quite some time. Randys band had broken up, he was looking for a new band, and Nowadays was sort of looking for a bass player. It was a perfect match! Randys style fit perfectly into the mold of the band. Once Randy joined things went better than ever! The band started really coming together, and started writing new material. Near the end of March, 2001 Nowadays put forth their 1st studio effort. 5 Songs came out of that recording. The cd was recorded at Digitraxx studios in Garden City, MI. Although they were happy with the recording for the amount of money spent, they knew they could do more, and set their sites on another studio effort, as soon as possible. This is where things would change once again. Pat was unhappy that Jamie had left. (Jamie was Pats roomate) Pat decided soon after the recording was done that he wanted to leave the band. After Pat left, Nowadays was unsure what to do. None of them really knew any great drummers who would fit into the style of music. Little did they know that the answer to their drumming problems was right beneath their noses! At a bar, Nate ran into an old friend, Doug. Doug had been in many bands before, and was a great drummer! Doug asked to try out, and things clicked from the start. From here, Nowadays felt like they were back in the drivers seat! About 2 months after Doug joined, we were thrown for another loop. Randys wife had been pregnant, and Randy decided that he could not give us the time we deserved. Randy leaving the band was hard, but we knew we would move on! Ryan emailed Nate about an ad Nate had placed in a local advertisement looking for a bass player. Ryan turned out to be old friends with Doug, and he was another case where things just clicked. Thats where we are at now. Our 1 year anniversary is coming up, and we are more ready to rock now, then ever! Things are looking up for us. A 2nd CD will be recorded at the end of October, and a summer tour is in the works. We will not stop working! Everyone in this band is determined to succeed. Look out, cuz we're back like never before!
