Norlita
and Murat emigrated the Philippines with their two young children
without the support of family and friends. With the morning play program
at New West Family Place, the children and the parents alike are adjusting
to their new life in Canada. |

Sheila has been
legally blind since 1965. Now a senior, she is staying healthy and connected
with the help from the CNIB (Canadian Institute for the Blind) and their
Vision Mate program. Pat visits Sheila in her West End home once a week,
helping her with daily routine tasks, like reading her mail and doing
errands.

Nick, unable to
work due to emphysema, and his three girls have been through a lot. Struggling
to break the cycle of poverty, the girls stay safe and are learning key
social and leadership skills at the various programs at Kiwassa Neighbourhood
House in East Vancouver.
|
|
John is a 35-year-old
man with a mental disability. Routine is very important to his life, and
after waiting nine years on a waiting list, he is living a happier, fuller
life with the support and fun he gets from the programs and services offered
by the Developmental Disabilities Association in Burnaby.
