When one goes to
a buffet, he/she will choose the foods they love.
They’ll also try something new or things they seldom eat. Unlike what they do
in normal daily meal, they’ll maximize the dose of food they can take so to maximize
the joy of fulfilling themselves with food. Most of all, we do all these by
ourselves, not served. To me, it is just an exact parallel to my view on
practicing.
Self-learning is
one of the biggest thing I’ve learned this year, while, fortunately it doesn’t
mean that my teacher taught me nothing through the whole of these months. With
the different methods of practicing he taught me, and with some of my
invented-ways (They might not be new to you. I call them ‘invented’ just
because I didn’t learn they, but find them out myself.), the sound of my violin
is really changed. So I thought that might be a good idea to do some kind of
record about my practice, which may be useful in my daily practice and
teaching, and of course, for sharing. If you have any suggestions or comments,
please don’t hesitate to drop me a note in my guest book or e-mail me. Thanks very much.
