Southwest-style Sloppy Joes submitted by ansondale
- 1 lb superlean ground beef
- 1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp onion powder
- 3/4 cup barbeque sauce
- 1/2 cup corn kernals, drained
1/4 cup chopped green chilies, drained- 1/8 tsp Mrs Dash extra spicy seasoning
4 pita pockets
1. Spray large nonstick skillet with cooking spray. Add ground beef, bell pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder; cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until beef is browned and cooked through.
2. Drain any liquid from skillet.
3. Add barbeque sauce, corn, chilies and extra spicy Mrs Dash seasoning; bring to boil over high heat.
4. Immediately reduce heat to low, cover and simmer 10 to 15 minutes.
5. Heat pita breads in oven, if desired.
6. Spoon Sloppy Joe mixture into pitas and serve.
