| * Choose your travel agency. Talk to them about upgrades if needed, reserving bassinet/bulkhead seats for return trip, non-smoking rooms if needed, special dietary needs while flying if needed. * Check into luggage restrictions for airlines. China has a strict 44 pound weight limit per suitcase. Consider upgrading to first class on Chinese airline - it's inexpensive and the weight restriction increases. * Buy or borrow luggage if needed. * Check into frequent flyer mileage. * Check the weather for the Provinces you will be visiting. * Make final purchases for the Packing List - start packing!! * Call family doctor for adult antibiotics - (just in case. . ) * Notify insurance company * Notify your credit card company (So they will expect charges from China). See which ones charge a conversion rate. * Arrange for child care / pet sitter or hire a house sitter. * Arrange a list of emergency numbers and leave some money for the house sitter in case of an emergency. Ask that they stock the fridge the day before you arrive home. * Arrange drop-off and pick-up from the airport (make sure there will be a carseat for the trip home). * Double check that you have all necessary baby care items for when you return. * Get travelers checks and cash from your bank. * Arrange for someone to be able to send or receive emergency faxes from China * Arrange for long distance phone lan or calling card * Make a list of credit card numbers (and phone numbers of these companies), family phone numbers, insurance phone numbers, pediatrician's and family doctor's numbers. * Make a list of any e-mail addresses you will need. If you plan to send an updates to a list of people, assign one person to receive your e-mail and forward them to everyone else. Bring that person's e-mail address with you. * Make a list of people to buy gifts for. * Get last Hepatitis shot. * Obtain leave/vacation from employer. |

| * Pay bills or arrange for someone to pay them while you are gone. * Set Yahoo Lists to "no mail" * Put tags on luggage, including China locations. * Make sure all immunizations are completed. * Put your mail on hold at the post office. * Stop your paper for the time you will be away. * Stock up on supplies at home to save need to rush to the store upon your return. * Make and store frozen dinners for return. |
